    Unhappy Busted Tranny

Well, I got my car to Gary's last night; and we found out it was the Transmission that failed

Hopefully I'll be back up and running soon, since I have a spare tranny still.

I still have stuff for sale in the classifieds if anyone wants to contribute to getting my car fixed :-P

Been there and done that with my dad's 03'. Thankfully I was able to nurse it back home and he had a spare tranny too.

You'll be up and running in no time!

turn down the boost. I'm already thinking I should have gone with a smaller turbo. 2nd gear is useless at 7psi with 205's. I will switch to a 6-speed if this one dies.

Well, the spare tranny is in and working.

Thanks to Gary for trailoring the car to his shop and letting me work on it there.

And thanks to Wags for helping with an extra set of hands; and the ride back from my dwelling to the shop.

I'm jumping the gun by discussing this because I haven't convened with Gary, but I want to cryo the guts in my extra 5-speed. I wonder if we could explore the "group buy" concept with a capable transmission builder in the area?

I spoke to Gary briefly about this. And he said he has a guy in Oklahoma that did work on his tranny. Its not kryo and not shot peening. But its a polishing of some kind that is also a hardener like the other two. I think he said its what the guys in SM use. cost from a good tranny with gears already in the tranny starts at about $800-$1000

Deffinately worth the money if never have to worry about breaking a tranny again.
