Yeah, I was running about 69 mph back from Jacksboro... the speed limit changed to 55 and I guess I missed the sign. Next thing I knew the disco lights were behind me

I have learned to cooperate as nicely as possible and not say an extra word than is needed when stopped by a cop! I was in my best behavior during the entire encounter. I confess that I have not met a cop that I really respect, which include one of my uncle. I only and let out some steam here.

Please do not take offense, CreeK. Many times you cops need attitude adjustment too! If you need one more ticket for you shift, just say so. I have no problem that the cops doing their job. However, you don't have to hammer the slightest infraction. Why not spend your time and energy to catch the bigger fishes. I am sure that will really make a difference in making our place safer and make everyone want to work with you! Remember "to protect and serve"?! I am not a cop, but I always treat the people I take care of with this attitude. I don't hammer people, but helping them anyway I can!

About half the cops I worked with could be a real horses ass but then again about half the people I ever met were too. Cops are people too and underpaid, disrespected people at that. The same young man looking for a job in public service can be a butt hole cop or a hero fireman, same guy, same attitude. It's about perception. Let's not forget that the cop was doing exactly what he was being paid and swore an oath to do, enforcing the law. Whether or not he or I or you agree with the law or how it is enforced is immaterial.
BTW the myth that cops have a quota for citations is a hard one to kill. I never had one and wouldn't work for a Department that did. It was always just the opposite. Any officer that wrote a lot of tickets would catch a lot of peer pressure and grief from the other members of his watch. The most common term used was "Hall Monitor". Most cops are jocks and the mentality rarely progresses beyond that point in the Patrolman ranks. The vast majority of citations I ever wrote were just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it could just as easily been the cop having a bad day. My advice? Fill out the deferred adjudication form posted earlier, pay the fine and forget about it. That's exactly what the lawyer you hire will do, and charge big bucks to do it.

I wonder how fast you switched lanes. If you were driving aggressively then that would be why you were nailed for such a minor infraction.

I agree with all that has been said. It's not a big deal, you got busted even though he could have let it fly, just do the deferred/probation and try to use your blinker. I personally hate it when people don't.

I was nailed for rolling a stop sign (2-3 mph) a while back at 11 PM on a weeknight with no cars within a 1/4 mile. Unfortunately for me a cop was hanging out in a church parking lot down the street, saw it and caught up to me. I was pissed but now I think a lot more to come to a complete stop even when no one's around just because I don't know who may be watching :)

I got a "failure to signal" ticket 3.5 years ago and I was going around a broken piece of concrete in the road. I'm still pissed that I didn't fight the ticket.
lol, That chubby tub of fun! I fight every ticket regardless. Usually represent myself first then get traffic lawyer if I loose and appeal. I've had a lot of tickets dismissed, although most were not deserved. The worst that can happen is ya loose and still have to pay either way.

I can see see gabkwong's frustration so don't everyone burn him at the stake. Not signalling is like a pet peave of mine but I do not think it is necessary all the time. On the highway with little to no traffic...no. With cars nearby, turning into someplace or at an intersection of course...unless it is a designated turn lane then I don't think it be required...but I still do. Once I had a guy nearly run me off the road in front of a cop yet I was the one that was pulled over; sounds like that's what may be the case here and is why he is pissed about the ticket.

Its not for the one you see, Its for the one you don't.

I got punted across a busy freeway by a dickhead that was just too lazy to signal.
If he had, I would have gladly given space for him to merge in.
It was going to be a no fault accident even though I was in my occupied lane. :WTF:
I'm tired of nearly getting run over by oversized vehicles that are too busy, on the phone etc. to signal.
I hope cops will wise up and start writing more for "Impeding Traffic" and "Illegal Lane Changes"

I'll add another one to the list of "tickets I wish cops wrote more often": driving in dense fog without your lights on. WTF? I (barely) saw about a dozen people this morning on the way to work who apparently decided that since it was daylight, they didn't need to have their lights on, even though visibility in my little corner of the metromess was well below 100 yards.

This is a good idea, however I beat a ticket recently for a cop no-show in Dallas.

Funny response I got when I asked a cop if he had a quota, he replied back and said, "No, they let us write as many as we want"

On another occasion, I told a cop that I was driving with traffic, so why did he stop me, vs. someone else. He asked me if I ever went fishing? I answered, "yes" then he asked, "did you expect to catch all the fish in the lake?"

Sorry you got BUSTED, it does suck, but deal with it and move on. But I have to ask, prior to this, did you really think the police are there for us? I've never been satisfied with the very limited action the police take to help a civilian, whether it be when I was robbed, or when I was broke into, or when I've had family members get jumped by a gang or a criminal. They are useless when it comes to crime, but they are great at enforcing traffic. This is why I NEVER support the propaganda when police and Sheriff departments ask for more money to make a community safer. The officers inevitably end up just working traffic and growing the money machine of local government.

I'll now relinquish the soap box.

Yeah then you'd just slide under the 18 wheelers instead of getting crushed

There's a reason they are disrespected. My grandfather was a sheriff and he told me, "Traffic officers are assholes." lol

Prime example was last night. Nevermind the drunk guy leaving the bar, they pull me over and lie through their teeth saying I was swerving and honking my horn leaving the parking lot! I drove past the business near the bar in the same parking lot because I saw an ambulence pull up and I know the owner and his son. I saw that it wasn't them being attended to and pulled out of the parking lot. Richardson police then proceded to give me a sobriety test and even the Sgt. that showed up at my request lied saying he was in the parking lot by the ambulence and said, "looked like you fish tailed pulling out." Total bs, especially since I knew there was an incident at the business and intentionally drove near knowing there would be police. The worst part is nothing will happen to these sub-human scumbags other than me filing a formal complant and getting blown off. Too bad a family friend moved out of state, cause he was a Lt. in Richardson police and helped me get an honest crooked cop in huge trouble and reassigned. You know its a good thing its modern times cause our Nation's founding fathers would've shot them for their abuses of power.

I've been pulled over many times (well... more like 8 or so) and to be honest, I've never met a cop that was a true prick. I also have several friends that are cops. The only one I've met that was close was just lazy.

There are many good ones for the few bad ones, but I've been involved in two court cases and watched 2 officers flat out LIE through their teeth. In court I have a hard time trusting them when it comes to an innocent person being prosecuted.
