If he hasn't paid by now, there are probably warrant officers at his door right now.

    LOL. OP was 2008

As a motorcyclist though folks not using their blinkers is one of my biggest pet peeves. It's one of the simplest communication devices you can use and it lets other folks know what you are doing. If you use a blinker I will actually slow down a bit and let you out most times. I'd much rather see failure to signal tickets, tickets for left lane campers, driving in the rain with no headlights or any lights at all, ect ect than for speeding.

Agreed 100% on all accounts. Even now that I don't have a bike, it still is my biggest driving pet peeve by far.

Gab, sorry you got caught, and this is an extremely petty thing to be ticketed for. I've read accounts by police saying they can basically ticket anybody, no matter how good/safe a driver they think they are. All the police...person has to do is trail you for about a mile, and you'll do something they can jack with you about. This individual appears to have simply been looking for a reason to mess with you, and you provided it by failing to use your blinker. Others have said it already: pay the fine and move on. Seriously, a lawyer isn't going to help you with this one.

Altiain, seriously? You think the police should be wasting time giving out more "failing to blinker" tickets? I'm not saying people shouldn't use them, but... really?

IMO not signalling and a slew of other things people do every day in their cars is much more of a safety hazard than a guy going a little over the speed limit.

Come on guys, using your blinker is not necessary for safety on every lane change and judging by traffic cops reputations especially Mesquite, we all know this was a bullshit ticket. Just like getting a no front plate ticket. Pretty much the only time I've heard someone get a no front plate ticket is when they were already getting pulled over for speeding or being targeted for something else just to be a dick. Like how Mesquite gave my friend a ticket for no trailer lights while we were pulling into the neighborhood after picking a car up from Detroit. We found out they went out at the last gas stop and couldn't get them fixed and we told the officer and the ass still gave him a ticket! What a waste of tax payers money for him to get it dismissed! BTW I know several Mesquite police officers, they've let me know how they run traffic enforcement.

You're right there is no black and white on the subject there are times where it's safe to make a lane change without a blinker such as when there is no other traffic around. But some people seem to have a hard time switching back and forth or they just don't give a shit which is probably a bigger reason. And probably what bothers me the most. There are instances where there is no reason a STOP sign can't be used as a yeild sign but again people have a hard time deciding when and when not to exercise good judgement. I'm agains the "police state" as much as anyone else. I hate the thought of govt getting more and more power but at the same time this isn't them getting more power this is simply enforcing laws that have been on the books FOR A LONG TIME and never get enforced.

Just because they went out within the last few minutes doesn't make it legal. It's a hazard regardless (I know because I nearly plastered a guy with a wide trailer that had zero lighting one night).

The officer has heard every story on the books. You're rarely going to convince them that the lights JUST went out before he pulled you over...
