Nope.
My Son got an XBOX 360 for Christmas and want's to use XBOX Live. We have a Wi-Fi network at home.
Is their a cheaper alternative to Microsoft's wireless adapter?
Nope.
There are several solutions offered up with a google search. I tried a wireless bridge that claimed to work for this purpose. After several frustrating hours I gave up. I set up the DSL modem behind my TV, so that now my XBOX and PS3 are wired, and the computers are wireless. I find the online experience to be better this way.
I've been searching for a cheaper alternative as well. I havent found anything. Right now, I have to carry the xbox from my room to the living room when i wanna play live. The upside is its on a 46" hdtv.

I ran a 75' cat5 cable from the router on the first floor to the gameroom on the second floor. Of course this can be a PITA.

Looks like a USB wireless network adapter. Don't they still sell ones that look like thumb drives for $20-$30? I bought one years ago (yes it's 802.11b).
