I've never ever needed 3rd gear at Pennington.
I am not a big fan of Pennington but I will go where ever they have the events. I like Mineral Wells alot better but I know alot of people don't because of the tire ware. You can't make everyone happy.
From what I have heard about Lincoln I don't think a Pennington setup will work. It sounds alot like Walnut Ridge. Concrete but the grip was alot like Mineral Wells or the A&M site also concrete. To me the A&M site and Walnut Ridge (both concrete) are alot closer to Mineral Wells than Pennington in the way you want to setup and drive the car.

10 hours standing + 3 min. seat time = sucks

At Pennington the drive is 30 minutes each way. You get 6x45seconds = 270 seconds of racing. 4.5 minutes.
At Mineral Wells the drive is 80 minutes each way and my tires look like hamburger when I get done. You get 6x90 seconds of racing so 540 seconds. 9 minutes.
Either way it's a lot of wang pulling for a little bit of seat time.
not that I'm not going to be there for either MW or Pennington I just want to![]()
The entry fee is pretty far down the list of the expenses incurred by participating in the sport. I would think the powers that be would be more responsive to the feelings of the drivers. I like the site and it's location, but the surface is just too small. I may have to miss a lot of events this year and would have been happy to pay any reasonable amount over the cost of Pennington to have a better venue.

Pennington does get old...I don't think I'm even going to walk course anymore. What's the point? I can see everything I need to see from the starting line.
I'd rather run La Grave more and Pennington less...but I think I'm one of few that likes La Grave.
But hey sites are hard to come by especially these days...at least we have a place to play.

Maybe we all need to complain less and work more. If we could all just scout our own area and find contacts for the local stadiums/schools/big churches? etc. we could probably find some new venues. I thought of churches when I drove by the Potters House on spur 408 the other day. Fund raising is their favorite passtime.

You're not the only guy who likes LaGrave, Stu - I'm the other guy. I think we're the onlt two though.
I've been autocrossing for ten years now, and I've lost count of how many times I've run at Pennington. I didn't go to any events there last season, and I didn't miss it at all. It's too damn small to run a decent course.

With the recession, there might be some developments out there that put roads in but have put houses on hold until things turn around. It would be cool to set up a street course in one of these empty developments.
I have only run one jrj512 course. Interestingly, it was the last autocross I have ran. I blame Jered.
