The two companies said in a joint statement that in exchange for sharing its small-car platforms and fuel-efficient engines, Fiat would take an "initial" 35-percent stake in Chrysler but would not invest cash.

It only goes to show when people can no longer discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, or sexual orientation, they can improvise and still find someone to hate. - Dave Moulton

Don't think that's going to be an option.

Chrysler don't seem to be able to sell Chryslers in today's economy.
Fiat could not sell Fiats in this country when the economy was better.
Let's see the hands of you folks that really think that Chrysler can sell Fiats in this country.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Actually, FIAT has turned full circle in the past 6 years. The company was owned by GM and almost bankrupt(kind of like GM is now). The now CEO convinced GM to divest itself of FIAT and he took over the company and re-invented it. They are now on the top 100 list for three of their models in reliability. The FIAT 500 Abarth is possibly going to be shipped to the U.S. in the next year at Alfa Romeo dealers.

Looks like a softer, more feminine Mini.

Memories! Two army room mates and I once went in together and bought a Fiat 600B for $100. It had a 4 cylinder 600cc water cooled engine in the rear and would run about 50 wide open. We all drove it WFO everywhere we went for several years and never had a problem. The rear brakes leaked and parts were unavailable so we crimped off the brake hard lines and did without. It had a cruise control which consisted of a knob on the dash you could pull out at full throttle and it would hold the pedal down. As each of us was discharged we found a new roomate and made him pay $33 for his share of the car. I wonder if it is still driving pilots around Ft. Rucker, AL.
