Do you have a shoe preference?

I prefer Chuck Taylor hightops for winter and Crocs or Reef flip-flops for summer.

I am the Imelda Marcos of Chucks and Crocs.

Crocs Outlet in Allen is even better if you can find your size in your color.

    Converse All-Stars usually.

    I need to go shoe shopping; I've been lazy lately. I'm wearing a pair of worn-out $7 POS's from Steve & Barry's

I'm a sucker for the rat-gray New Balance 992 (previously 990 & 991). Super comfy, lightweight, and they will not fall apart! I still have a pair in "work shoe" rotation that I bought in '99 or '00. I suspect it's because they're one of the few shoes that's made in the USA...

In the summer I'll wear the cheapest POS flipflops I can find (hello, Walgreens!). They usually last one summer, plus the first week of the next summer... and then they blow out in spectacular fashion.

I don't get Crocs... what am I missing?

I really like new balance also rick and I just looked and my newest one are 992s also, weird huh? I agree these thing never wear out I have some from 5 or more years ago too. The NB are light but I really like how weightless the vans classic slip-ons are, they are my favorite driving shoe that I have used by far.

Thanks to Ross stores carrying them at 20 dollars a pair, I've been wearing my three pairs of Pilotis lately. Red, white, and blue.

BTW they're pronounced Pi-loe-ties, with a long O, not like the trendy excercise pilates. At least that's what the company rep said on jaylenosgarage.com

The last time someone tried to explain Crocs to me, he (well, we) were stoned to bejeezus at an abandoned mine camp 9,000 feet up in the mountains in the middle of New Mexico, watching satellites streak across the sky. Even then I wasn't sold...

Don't they make your feet sweat like a Haitian whore?

Yep... when I started buying them, they were 990s - and I've still got an extremely ragged out pair. I wore an old thin-soled pair of 992s to Hallett last year and they made awesome driving shoes. As wide as they are across the toes, they were perfect for heel-toe footwork.

I looked everywhere for Pilotis at Ross the other day and couldn't find them anywhere! Which store had them? I'd really like to try those out.

They're gone now. Checked the one next to Circuit City in Plano last week and none were there.

I'm not about to check the other 6 stores within 50 miles like I did the last time.

    Rick,

All I can say is go to the Allen Outlets and pick a pair up for $20. Once you get a pair, you will realize how comfortable they are. I have the original Crocs with holes and no problem with slutty Haitian feet. I can be walking on them all day and no sore feet. I can't say the same for any other shoe I've owned.

I'll have to give 'em a whirl... millions of people can't be wrong on these things.

Besides, I've had worse that Haitian whore feet for more than $20... (hello, leather sandals!).

BTW, whatever happened to Tevas? Did they just completely fall out of style? Were they ever in style? Was I the only one that like them?

I wear skate shoes pretty much exclusively. I prefer Globe and Vans shoes, but I haven't tried much else. I like all the extra padding and comfort the skate shoes gives you, plus they are built very rugged and last forever.

Price is a factor for me, so when I can go to the Vans Shoes store and look through 20-30 different style shoes all under $30 a pair, I am very happy. They ALWAYS have some kind of deal, or marked down shoes, etc. Other skate shoe brands can run in the $100's of dollars per pair, I avoid those since I don't like paying that much.
