I just BAM! it at NTB Lewisville. He's always busy though, have to find some downtime.
I got the same crap from Discount Denton, I haven't been back over 5 years.
I pay $10 Mount, balance, and dispose.

Nope, you are wrong! Unless you come to the NTB in Sachse and I'm at work. Normal price we are supposed to charge is $10 each per tire customer tire mount then $9.99 each for one time balance or $14.99 each for lifetime balance. That comes out to at least $20 per tire!
I would charge you guys the regular install price as if you were buying the tires from NTB, which is $12.99 each or $14.99 each for anything insaine like the 345/30/19 Hoosiers a friend brought the other day! Hell I'll just charge the $9.99 each for balance and screw the mounting costs!

The local tire shop charged me $10 to mount, balance and dispose of any tire. Until I brought in some 225-50/14 V710's to mount on 14x6 wheels, then the price went up to $12.50 per tire.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Not if you print out the installation quote from Tire Rack and bring it with you.
From Tirerack:
NTB - NATIONAL TIRE & BATTERY, SACHSE, TX 75048
Mounting & Balancing (per tire)
35 Series and lower $24.99
40-45 Series $19.50
50-55 Series $14.50
60 Series and higher $14.50
So for Miata tires (or the Murano tires I had mounted), it is $14.50. Unfortunately, it looks like Sammm would pay more for his Vette if he was to go to an NTB (other than yours).
BTW, the outfit I used to mount my T1Rs is Affordable Hub Caps & Wheels on Harry Hines, just south of Forest Lane. A friend put me on to them several years ago. I've been happy with them as a source of tires (they've matched Tire Rack prices w/o shipping), and also as a place to get tires mounted/balanced for $10/wheel. One caveat... when I had my T1Rs mounted up, one was out of balance and I ended up having the set re-balanced at Sam's for $15. It was a time-crunch issue, otherwise I would've taken them back to Affordable. And honestly, that's been the only problem I've had with those guys over the last 10 years and God knows how many sets of tires. My only advice if you're going to check them out is to get there first thing in the morning - they open at 8AM.
OK, one more caveat... if you're going to order tires from those guys, you're probably going to have to bird-dog them and make sure they get them ordered. They will do you right, but it took the guy three weeks to get a set of Michelin Pilots for my old BMW (225/50ZR-16 Pilot MXMs at, um, $88/ea - they matched Tire Rack's "fire sale" price even though they went back up to $140/ea a month later). Sometimes it's worth the wait.
When it comes to the Miata, I'd rather deal with them than a Big Box place.![]()

The last two sets of tires I got mounted and balanced at Discount in Denton were $60 including disposal. The last set was cantilever slicks and I had 5 tires for disposal. Cantilevers are really tough. They frequently take 3 technicians with pry bars for installation. They are somewhere around a 25 aspect ratio. You should call Todd Eady in the Plano Discount tire store and tell him that I sent you there. He will definately give you a good deal. He might also be able to work a deal for you at your local Discount tire.

It would be great if Todd could improve his price. Last time I went there it was $20 per tire for mount and balance. With Autocross and Time Trials I went through 7 sets of tires each getting flipped one time and balanced.
M3 is always the answer.
nomadtrash why did you bring back a post from February of 2009??![]()
I paid 96.50 for them to mount and balance tires they I already had in my shed.
And they scraped the bottom of my car on the lift after I had requested the jacks!
That's gonna be my last experience with Discount Tire...

Dang never seen all this nastiness at a Discount. Shop in Weatherford is where all the family members go as do I when I don't head out to Todd's place. They are head and shoulders above the other places (as is the one off Bryant Irvin & 20 ) I tried when I first moved to Tejas. Don't think anyone has ever put any of the vehicles on a 'lift' at one of their shops. It's always been on jacks.
Twenty bucks a tire to mount and balance is not unreasonable when you consider you are using them as a service depot and not a retailer. I love the fact that they rotate our tires for free, fix the flats, and do our occasionals flips on the solo car for nothing as part of our tire purchases. Not to mention going out of the way to find the exact tire, not something close, for what we need. Get the rack or other on-line retailers to deliver that.
Maybe we just go to the wrong or right stores purely by luck. There are crap apples in every bushel. But then, there is always Firestoner, Snears, Wally World and those other quality joints. For me based upon my 55 or so years on this earth and dozens of cars owned I've yet to find a fault with them but to each his own.

I've had pretty good experiences at DT, but they do suffer from price creep, etc. Like Steve said, free rotations and flat repairs are nice and they get some business from time to time. The sponshorship at the ax events is pretty nice for those that perticipate in it too.
OTOH, for frequent flips, and practice tires, etc. I use a local shop that does the $10 per. Until I brought them some cantilevers that they almost stroked out on trying to get them to seat the bead (yeah, let's let them sit in the sun for an hour to "soften"). Took em to Forrest at PTP and they got it done and a good price to boot. just a bit a a drive for me to use on a regular basis though. Local guys still take care of me, but when they see me comin first thing they say is " aint got them thar funny tars agains do ye?"

i do mount and balance on 4 for $40 at my dad's place...it's mainly jsut to cover costs of materials and wear and tear on the machines. But anything over $60 is kinda a rip IMO for a big place like ntb or discount. A small race shop that is careful....$60-100 for a set is acceptable because they are more careful. Like the place I used to work at.
