Thread: Tech Day- Timing belt, waterpump, and fluids.

  1. #1

Default Tech Day- Timing belt, waterpump, and fluids.

Hey guys I am getting my timing belt and waterpump supplies in Wednesday the 11th and need to get them installed along with a radiator flush and differential and transmission oil change before next Wednesday the 18th so I'm holding a tech day. The date can be within that week according to whenever people who may be interested would be able to do it. I believe I should be able to do this without too much diffuculty but I haven't done it before so if anyone with experience wants to help that would be great, or if we just have some people that need to do theirs also then we could figure it out together.

Great thanks man! I was thinking Saturday, but Sunday should work too. If anybody else is on the fence there will be punch and pie!

More people will come if they think there’ll be punch and pie

I did my trans fluid this week, it was easy as long as you have a long enough hose to put the fluid in. I still need to replace a coolant line the cracked a few weeks ago and drain some of my coolant. Never done timing belt or water pump. If you need help I might be able to give a hand.

bmcreider should be coming down to help and he has experience with a timing belt change so I'm hopeful we can get it done. I've done diff and trans oil changes before so I really only need help with the timing belt and maybe coolant flush, but your welcome to come down if you want to learn how to do a timing belt too, you'll probably need one done eventually. PM me if you want the address.

Well this isn't as fun of thing to do as say, a coilover install, I got help pretty easily with that one. But I've been very happy with all the help I've received from people on the board, they've never left me hanging.

I actually am interested since I'll be doing it to my next engine before I put it in. Have a set date yet?

bmcreider said he was helping somebody move early today so he wouldn't be able to help out till later this afternoon, I'm guessing around 3pm, but I have a garage if we don't finish before dark.

Nope, my tranny got fucked up pretty hard somehow, so unless Rogue sees an easy fix then I won't be able to make it to Laguna. Please don't turn this into a discussion of what the idiot noob punk kid did wrong cause I'm not interested, just let me feel like shit in peace. It looks like I'm just going to have Rogue transfer the transmission from my salvage car to the new one somehow and I'll post something when there is something worth saying but right now I just feel like shit.

Hey now! Give yourself some credit. I'm sure everyones been down this path - it's a learning experience. At least you had the courage to give it a shot! It cost me over $1000 for 60k mile maintenance (included timing belt change) and even then there were problems and I had to take it back to the dealership! Hope it all works out for you - sorry to hear about the Laguna plans...maybe you can plan on a local track day or heading to Hallett with us in September!

Better to have the transmission problem now then somewhere in New Mexico or California. Hope you can get a refund from Laguna.
