Default I hate thieves!!! Fortunately not too bad for me...

I am renting a place for my enclosed trailer at an RV storage place in Cleburne. The weekend before last I get a call that my trailer had been vandalized. Bottom line is theives hit 28 motorhomes, rv trailers and other trailers such as mine. It was on the back side of the storage place. Every one of the rvs, motorhomes and trailers are covered with a back wall on every space. A Motorcoach was vandalized and the thieves stole all the flat screen tvs, radios, etc., etc. It was a brand new coach with paper tags!! Estimate was around $50,000 worth of damage to a $450,000 coach. The thieves cut anything they could with knives and broke all glass. For my trailer, I had locks that they could not cut, so they used bolt cutters to cut the camber hasps. Fortuately for me, I did not have any tools, race equipment or the car in the trailer. They stole my tie down straps and my weight distribution hitch. Positive note: we found the weight distribution hitch on the other side of the lot!!!! I guess it was too heavy. It probably weighs around 50-60 #s. I did fair much better than all the others. CSI took fingerprints and even DNA left on a water bottle the thieves stole. Guess they got thirsty from carrying my hitch!! I now have to buy new straps and a camber hasp. I got lucky!! Most others did not. Thieves suck!!!!

Theft is one think but then going out of the way to purposely cut things up and break windows is even worse. It sounds like a pretty good size group from the amount of damage and what was taken. Hopefully they catchthe idiots and make em pay one way or another.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will catch whoever was behind it.

Was there no video surveillance? May want to switch rental places.

Sucks that there wasn't better security to keep the thieves from spending that much time there to do all that damage.

    Yes, thieves SUCK!

Absolutely NO surveillance. I agree about switching, however, there is not another rental place in the area with surveillance. The manager is a corner worker for most Apex, TheDriversedge, NASA, PCA and BMW events. He opened up a spot for me on the other side of the compound. The nice thing about that is there is someone who lives there in an RV trailer. The thieves broke into a 'toy box' and used the four wheeler to move things on that side of the lot. The people that live on site were out for the night...

That's too bad. If you're not changing locations then I suggest you leave the trailer unlocked and nothing inside it. Lock the tongue though so they don't steal it. They'll probably be back in a couple months.

That's why I never lock my cars. There is nothing inside worth stealing and I don't want my top slashed for no reason.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

Bingo!! I keep the trailer tongue locked down, but NOW I keep the trailer unlocked and empty. PITA to empty it, but better than losing things!! Great suggestion, Nails.

Good idea, the only problem is most of them are so dumb they cut the top before checking the door.........

Take a look at the top on Juano Tejano's car. The doors were unlocked when that happened.

Since booby traps are illegal what is needed here is a trailer constructed as a detainment cell.
    1. Thieves enter trailer.
    2. Loot placed at back of trailer.
    3. Thieve goes for bait.
    4. Trailer closes and locks.
    5. Thieves checks in but they don't checkout.
Rent trailer to storage yards with this problem.
Although might have an issue with some type of incarceration law.

"Mantraps" are a felony. The police have tried bait cars which are left running with the door open in a bad area, when the thief drives away the doors lock and the engine quits. The cases have been dismissed even though the thief was retrieved from the car in less than a minute.
A few years back a local jewelry store installed pressurized display windows that would explode outward if the glass was broken, they were successfully sued for millions.

What a world, what a world. We live in a society that protects the wrong doers more than the tax paying citizens Hmm, wonder why crime is so popular, could it be that there is little repercussion, and even less risk of physical injury.
