I have a 1990 for sale in your price range (see my avatar). I plan on posting it for sale this weekend as soon as I take more pictures. The car has been a daily driver for me the past 2 years. It is a base model with working air conditioning (R134a converted). It does NOT have power steering (which I prefer), no power windows, doors or locks. I have done a lot of maintenance and replaced many parts over the last 2 years:
New Timing belt
New Water pump
New valve cover gasket
New CAS o-ring
3 new cooling hoses replaced (I have the other 6 new hoses)
New Plugs & wires
New Alternator
New cooling fan motor, thermoswitch, relay and 30 amp fuse
New AGM battery (1 month old)
Pioneer DEH-P2900MP car stereo with optional iPod connection. Has Polk audio DB650 door speakers with baffles and some Dynamat.
150 watt amp (used but works)
15" 2000 Miata wheels with Falken Ziex 912's (purchased Nov 2007)
Transmission & differential fluids changed with Motul and Redline
Frenzy Stylebar
Replaced the instrument cluster hood and radio surround with used parts
Black vinyl top with zipper glass window in good condition
Have the original soft top boot
New ignition and keys
New clutch slave cylinder and replaced master cylinder with used.
Used Miata bra
The Good - The interior is in great shape for the car's age. It has the original seats (no holes or wear spots) and original floor mats. The dash is NOT cracked and the door panels are in good condition. The car has been owned and driven in Texas all its life. There is NO rust anywhere. The car has never had a front license plate, so there are no holes in the bumper. I bought this car from the original purchaser which I work with. It has not been in any major wrecks per the original owner. The car has passed inspection with no problems the last 2 years, and is due for inspection next month.
Things that remain to be completed - I have new OEM brake pads for all 4 wheels. It needs shocks and there is an oil leak at the back of the engine. The windshield has a couple of chips, but no cracks. I have a new OEM rear main seal that will need to be changed when the clutch is replaced (the clutch does NOT need to be changed at this time). It does have the paint peel problem as many other 1990 white Miatas, but I just spray over the spots. The car has 236K on the original engine and has not been rebuilt or replaced.
If you want to look at it this weekend please send me a PM or call me at 2 one four-six 8 three -one zero 1 five.
Thanks!
