Looks very good!
I picked up a valve cover to practice on before doing my own. It happened to be an early 1.8 with the raised letters. So instead of just covering the whole thing with paint I polished up the letters first.
It's not absolutely *perfect* Some of the casting texture in the letters (specifically "16 VALVE") was pretty deep and I didn't polish it all the way down. You can see what I mean in the pics. If the buyer is motivated enough, they can spend about a half hour of time and some elbow grease to polish it down and get rid of those divots.
The paint is VHT wrinkle red. The prep and masking was done very thoroughly and carefully. There is no paint underneath where the gasket goes. Most of the threaded holes were covered (I missed one on the back of the cover). The spark plug holes were masked off to ensure a good seal with the spark plug boots. Same thing with the oil fill hole.
The letters were polished up to 1500 grit sandpaper. You can take it further to a mirror finish, but I don't know if you'd really want to. Looks good as is.
I'd like to get around $125 for it. But make me an offer - I'm not greedy.

Hmmm!
Do I have $125 buring a hole in my pocket? Very nice!
Gabriel
Thanks, guys. I'm actually really happy with the way it came out - and really disappointed that my '99 valve cover doesn't have raised letters.
