I'm interested in the helmet if it fits me. I probably need a large. I will be back in town next week, hopefully by the Wednesday GTG to check it out.

Great. Does it have the sun visor thing that is supposed to strap on to silver clips? Is it a SA2000 or a M2000?

Not intending to scuttle a potential sale, but will an SA2000 rating pass inspection? I thought were in 2005 territory...

Well laguna seca went as far back as 95. I was planning on checking out the requirements for my next possible track days before buying even before you'd mentioned so you didn't scuttle anything.

M2000, no clue where the sunvisor is as I took it off when I bought it.

Ok well I'm going to be a maybe, I am interested and I'll take a look at it when I get out there and I'll see if it will meet the specs I need it to in the mean time but if you get someone else that wants it don't hold it for me.

It depends on the club you are running with. SCCA requires the current Snell standard or one of the previous two. The current standard is 2005; so 2005, 2000 and 1995 are OK. The new 2010 standard goes into effect in September of this year. So in September, 2010, 2005 and 2000 will be acceptable. An M2000 or SA2000 helmet will go out of date in 2015, when the 2015 standard goes into effect.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

To add to that, the 2010 standards are no considered the "current" standard until next season, even though they can be purchased now. That means 1995 is still good through the end of the year/season. sa2000 and m2000 are good until 2015 goes into effect.
