Perhaps, but don't you think that William deserves the opportunity to live down the incident... It has been what 6 or 7 years now? While he may not be up to the driving level of an MSR Member, he has improved a lot over the years. I road with him the last time I was at the track and will happily admit that he can out drive me (not that I can drive for shit).
Not offended... I was just reminded the other day of how an incident can follow you around long beyond expiration date, and that can suck so I thought I would stand up for Willy... I am sure he is sick of defending himself after all these years.![]()

Thanks Todd. Like you said it was a long time ago. Actually it was over eight years ago! Certainly a long enough time for me to "get over it". As far as I'm concerned there is nothing to defend. It happened, I learned from it, I've moved on. We all make mistakes in life. It's how we learn from those mistakes that counts.
It seems to me immature to remind folks of their mistakes "forever". Even in jest it just get's stale and comes off as antagonistic as you noticed. Whatever. To me it makes them look bad, not me.
Some of the old gang still likes to give me shit about the past as well as my spins on the track. At this point, I just let it roll off. I know I'm a better, more mature driver than I was. Considering the lack of seat time I have compared to many of these guys, I'm happy with my abilities and I'm sure others who rode with me would agree.
Now if Mike want's to be helpful, maybe he can get a ride with me at TDR@MSR and give me some constructive criticism.
William, now that is a compliment being called "immature". Back in the good old days we were labelled a "bunch of three year olds" from the LSMC WACs and it was a badge of honor. I'm glad I'm upholding the tradition
And you asked for some constructive criticism Go take some driving lessons from a good instructor. Get a instructor at TDR@MSR who doesn't know you, keep an open mind, listen to him/her and check your ego at the door. And please keep the passengers out of your car during your sessions, you're not impressing anyone with your abilities. Well maybe one person is impressed. But you need to keep focused and![]()

Think you should edit again. Something like, "Sorry to jack this thread I was just kidding!" If you have issues with Black Roadster, take it up in another thread.
See, I knew it was a trap.
Personality conflicts aside, my point remains directed at forrest. (Sorry if it seems like I'm picking on ya!For all I know you're a great driver who was simply being self-deprecating.)
A stock Miata is gloriously well-balanced and forgiving: the perfect tool for learning car control. Once you start tweaking for responsiveness, it can become less forgiving. If you're not prepared for that, it can bite you. Hard.
Autocross is a great way to learn the limits of your car, how it behaves as you exceed them, and how to recover, all in a controlled environment. Heck, just driving a 30' circle in an empty parking lot and varying the throttle/brake will teach you a lot about understeer and oversteer.
Aw, heck -- why am I getting all preachy? Just don't drive like a nut and you'll be fine.![]()
