Thread: Top Glue??

    Default Top Glue??

As I was running to Mineral Wells yesterday I noted my '94 had ample headroom. I then realized the top had come unglued from the bow and was puffing up.

Years ago I used some cool glue to fix the same problem on my '92 but can recall what glue is preferred for the bow fix?

    Anyone done this repair lately??

    TIA

I had to glue the '95 I had last year. Gorilla Glue FTW!

I went to lowes and bough a blue tube of "marine sealant." Its pretty serious, but in a standard metal tube. You can also put some in a bag, huff it, and get pretty crunk.

3M Heavy Duty Indoor/Outdoor double-stick tape worked for me. Had it on for over a year before I swapped to a '99 top.

I'd recommend H2Hold 1800psi by Devcon. It's a 2 part flexible epoxy and waterproof. I used it on a driver's side window repair on daughter#2's Mustang, where the glass attaches to the metal frame.

    Available at Home Depot, IIRC.

I have used Pilobond with great success.

Vynabond had been sugested to me, and I went to go buy it at Elliots. When I got there the woman suggested the Pilobond, so I bought both. Tested them both on some scraps of vinyl. I was able to pull apart the Vyna bond sample after yankind very hard. The Pilobond sampe would not seperate, and in fact the vinyl ripped.
