Thread: Hit and Run - Miata DOWN!

  1. #1

Default Hit and Run - Miata DOWN!

My wife was driving my Miata last week, and some idiot ran into her. He hit the front driver's side, all the way back to halfway down the door. His car would have front driver's side damage as well.

The accident happened in Arlington, just north of Lamar @ Collins.

It was a gold Chevy Malibu, with 20" 3-spoke chrome wheels.

Keep an eye out for me please!!!
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

Damn that sucks. How was there damage to both front driver sides of the cars? Were they going opposite directions, if so seems like a head on was narrowly avoided

Ouch, well 3 spoke chrome 20"s aren't all that common so you might stand a decent chance of somebody catching his license plate.

Maybe there are some video surveillance cameras in that area? Maybe a long shot. If it was a gang member maybe the gang unit knows the car. It is a unique looking car. Good chance it goes down the road frequently. Just some ideas. I will let the pros help you with this but it is good to know she was not hurt bad.

Probably a coincidence, but I have seen a gold Malibu with giant 3 spoke chrome wheels in Bedford not too far from my neighborhood. Hard to miss as hideous as it is. I'll keep my eye out and see if I notice anything.

That's a sweet picture. The fat kid in the far left like "WTF is that thing" then the guy on the far right is like "Yeaaa, that thing is dope" and all the kids crawling around in it. Just overall a great pic.

About the car in question though, we really should be able to find this guy because people have seen him before and the car ain't exactly easy to miss. If anybody has seen it parked in front of a house maybe drive by and see if it is there.

I looked on cardomain.com and did not find anything. Maybe facebook or myspace might have something but I am not familiar with the sites.

Without getting into stereotypes too much, people that put ginormous rims on their cars aren't exactly "enthusiasts".

Without getting into stereotypes too much, the hit and run part of this wreck is a major indicator of a car with no insurance...

I spent my whole day Saturday driving around the area, checking all the apartment parking lots between Cooper, Ballpark, IH30 and Green Oaks. No luck finding it. I figured it wouldn't be something he would be driving around too much, since I bet it's got some good front damage as well. I checked with Albertson's, and their outside cameras are crap, so you can't see anything. No luck from the Radio Shack, and the Chiptole's doesn't have outside cameras. I'm gonna contact the city to see if I can get a copy of the Collins @ Lamar traffic cameras. It happened at 1134am Friday.

That is why I put a vehicle description, it can't be a very common car. Hopefully someone will spot it and get the plate or something so I can get some justice.

One person on CR.net said they saw it last weekend at the Parks Mall, so it might not be very easy to find, since it has a large area it travels.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I did a google search, but not a car site search.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I used that premise to determine he was probably not a high $$$ earner, so I figured he was an apartment dweller. Sadly, the search area is too large to effectively cover now, with people saying they have seen it in Bedford and at the Parks Mall. Hopefully I'll get lucky and someone will spot the vehicle.

The wife is perfectly fine. She hit her head and hurt her ankle, but that pain went away in a few hours. No lingering affects. When she first called me, she got me in a huge panic...

I answered the phone and she was crying hysterically, "Someone just hit me! I was just sitting there and he hit me!"

Then I hear some guy (the guy who hit her) yelling, "Why are you on the phone!"

Then the phone went dead. I had no idea what happened, or where she was. I started calling friends, getting a search party together. She just got out of class at UTA at 11, so I got everyone started looking there. After about 20 min, she finally called back, saying she called the cops, and that the guy ran off when she told him she was calling the police. Then she told me where she was, so I called off the search and drove there as quickly as possible.

My mom is a nurse and has always told me that even though some think it's just something people do for insurance fraud that injuries do normally present themselves some time after the incident. I would normally strongly recommend that she go to the hospital to get checked out just incase, but since you can't find the guy responsible and you would be paying out of pocket then it's kinda up to you/her. Atleast tell her to be extra aware of any pain in the next week or so.

    1. are you sure they were 20's and 2. what was the color of the car? I saw one in north dallas with some problems on the right front fender and hood... it was beige... I grabbed the plates just in case... and i think the rems were a bit bigger then 20 more in the area of 24's

    thanks,

I repeat: that sucks. No luck with the couple of leads you have had i take it? Have you followed up on the one DrpepperTECH! saw? Even though he thinks the rims were bigger and a slightly different color, it has the appropriate damage and is a possibility.
