It's all said out of jealousy! Once you realize that, it's all good.

There's more truth in that statement than you know. I proudly owned my Miata for 9 years, had a great time driving it, and had to put up with a few stupid people's comments just like everyone else on this board (lots of complements too!). Then I purchased the Porsche Cayman. Now it's [typically] little boyz in their ratted out toyz all trying to convince me to race them just so they can brag to their friends that they "beat a Porsche".

Fortunately, just like the Miata, most people are complementary about my car. For the rest? F&%k 'um.

If someone says any thing about my Miata, I just hit them with my purse.

While standing around with a bunch of S2000 drivers a few years ago, the harassment began. Finally, someone played the girlie car card, and someone else said "Careful or he'll hit you with his purse."

My reply was, "Yep and it is full of money. How much did you pay for that Miata wannabe anyway?"

Everybody laughed and it was fun.

My normal reply to people is a smile and "I like it. Most fun car I've ever had and I race it. What do you do with your car/truck?"

Then I celibrate because it doesn't cost me $200 for an oil change or $2000 for a set of tires or half my income to insure it

I get it too, at my office from a kid technician with a Mustang GT. I had enough last week and borrowed some big Carebear and rainbow magnets from my daughters room and put them on my miata. I told him he could try and chase me on a farm road not to far from the office after work and if he didn't catch me he had to put my magnets on his Mustang for the rest of the month and tell the rest of the office he couldn't keep up with the Carebear express. He came close on the intial straight but disappeared behind in the curves. Heard a bunch of mumbles about a bad cylinder and such. I will try and take some pictures of his car this month and put them up. It really looks cute.

You could not have been street racing beacuse a Mustang cannot go fast enought to be concered racing. Around corners atleast.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

I really didnt buy my car to race, just cruise around with the top down. I would like to do some mods for to make it a track car but right now the car is amazing. I mean the price the power and the looks all for 6200. I took it to work and everyone wants a ride in it with the top down now.

my ricing, street racing days are over

Last year when gas was $4 a gallon I could be found at the gas station next to my Miata making fun of SUV owners who weren't getting change back from their $100 bill.

Gas prices are going up again.

Yeah... I've gotten comments from pickup truck drivers. It's always when their friends are with them.

    My favorite was this:

Truck guy: Nice "girly" car... <snicker>
Me: Thanks! Is your truck a "manly vehicle"
    Truck guy: Yup!
Me: So... How many men have you picked up with it?

His buddies laughed at him and the light turned green so I simply drove off.

It'll happen with any car. I was in Paris, TX, back in the early 90s. At that time I drove a PoS Toyota Tercel and was at the stop light by the loop on Lamar when a car full of punk teens pulled up. It was some kind of Maserati convertible.

The punk made some nasty comment about my car and I just turned to him and said "Nice car! Does your mommy pay for the insurance too?" His friends got a nice laugh at his expense and he didn't say another word.
