Default Weird iPhone issue at work--any IT guys here?

So, quite a few people up here at work have iPhones. We use them all day for emailing, calendar updates, etc. For most of us, a battery charge can easily get us through the work day.

Today however, I noticed my battery draining much quicker than usual. Talking to some other folks on the floor, it turns out that MANY of us had MAJOR battery issues today. I'd say batteries were draining at least 2-3 times quicker than usual. (I did download the new 3.0 software this morning, but most other coworkers had not.) Some folks reported batteries at under 20% level by noon.

So, IT gurus: Could anything in our corporate network have caused this? Maybe some setting that is causing our iPhones to perpetually be trying to update or synch to email? All of my phone settings related to my corporate email are unchanged from yesterday.

Or was some giant magnet hovering over Plano today???

Do you use Exchange/push sync? If so, then yes, there could be a sync glitch.

What's much more likely, though, is that the cell tower serving your office was malfunctioning causing all your phones to frequently renegotiate with the tower. Any other AT&T smartphone ActiveSync users in your office? Any non AT&T ActiveSync users?

Don't know. We iPhone folks don't talk to the "others"...

Could also be a problem with the nearby tower causing your phone to turn up the power to talk to another tower.

Cell phones like to use the least power to communicate to save battery.
