    Default Misleading pictures on ebay...

Check out this great looking crx on ebay:

And what the car really looks like:

Granted the seller does mention the paint is a little oxidized. But he leaves out the clear coat is peeling off EVERYWHERE!

What are you looking for? Most of the CRXs for sale now a days are piece of craps. The car is an 88 with original paint. Hondas were not known for great paint back in the day. I should know I had an 88 SI and had to have it repainted and that was back in the mid 90s. To be honest the price isn't horrible as long as what he describes is all that is wrong. More like $3k would be a good price seeing how it's not beat to crap. Sorry just my .

Several of the guys on this forum have bought cars off ebay. I got a good deal but I did drive out to see the car before I placed a bid. I think Trickyrix did the same IIRC. Caveat Emptor.

Well, uh... not quite, IMO. The pics he posted on eBay show a clean CRX, not one that's missing 90% of the top-side clear coat. I would've walked from that car unless the seller knocked a nice chunk off the price for the shitty paint.

Yep... I had an agreement with my seller that if the car wasn't as-represented, then it was no-go. My dad and I drove out to inspect it and pick it up. Luckily, it was a good and decent car, so I'm here today as a Miata owner.

I've sold several cars on eBay with the understanding that if the buyer doesn't feel I've represented it accurately, then they can walk - no hard feelings. It's been 99.9% no-fuss-no-muss, but I've never hornswaggled anyone like that CRX dude did - that's just wrong...

I've bought 2 cars from eBay. Both times I arrived in person to pay and drive home.

In this case I can't really tell if the photos in the listing are from the same car or not. Smells like misrepresentation though.

I bought a Yukon XL off of ebay about 5 years ago. It was local so I was able to take a look at it first. Also took it to a local mechanic to give it a thorough inspection before I bought it. Got a great deal on it and am still driving it today.

Just my opinion but I'd never buy a car without personally seeing it first. I've missed out on a few deals but on the flip side I've also saved myself a few headaches also.

I just looked at a car for my daughter on Monday that was listed on Craigslist. Photos made it appear to be a pretty clean car. Seeing it in person you could tell it had been seriously abused and neglected (and thats being kind).
