Profitability. Those go carts were probably expensive to maintain, and only being able to run 2-3 carts at a time was reducing the number of people they could make money off for every minute of track usage.

Most people are also IDIOTS when it comes to driving. Just drive down the road at any time and you'll see it. So they are catering to the larger market, the people who don't care about times, but who just want to pretend to be a good driver and run other people off the road and not feel guilty about it. If they posted times, people would get butt-hurt finding out how much they really suck.

hmm. that sucks. I don't proclaim to be a good driver, but the time trial was fun, albeit it got expensive fast. I do enjoy the slick track due to lap time vs. cost aspect, and have only once had a day where there were "you can't pass even though i suck" people out. Ended up loosing my patience with the moron and his equally moronic son. Father wouldn't let me pass, kept slamming into the side of me as i'd try and the son was slamming squarely into the back of my kart. argh.... Solution-- slow down, spin son.... speed up, spin father.... woot! open track. The track attendants seemed to find it funny. The father and son did not.
