Yup... been using it for some time to keep in touch with my brother overseas... really cool product if you can get an invite... I don't think it's open to everyone yet.
Check it out if you haven't already. Free long distance within the US and highly discounted rates outside the US...all from your home phone. (Not so much a big deal from your cell)
You can also set it up so your Google number rings any or all of your other numbers (Home, Cell, Work).

Also handy is that our Google number is a local call from our hometown...

That is really cool, any invites?
If you have a .mil email address they'll let you in right now right now.
I forget the link, but it's on Lifehacker. I saw it today and I'm considering it.
The major minus is Google's growing information repository and I'm a Yahoo! stockholder.

I got my invite.
Is there any way to get Google voice to answer one of your existing numbers, like my home #??
Very cool deal thanks for the heads up Sammmmm!
You set it up by giving out your Google number as your contact number. It will then ring your home number (or whatever number(s) you provide). You will then be able to screen/record/block callers before you accept the incoming call.
You're welcome!
PS
It will take about a week after you submit your invite before you they get back to you.
My dad likes it, but I did notice a little echo when I was talking to him.
