I am probably buying postseason tickets tomorrow... So I really hope they make it.

Ranger pitching is on fire.
This season, I've reached my Baseball Tipping Point. Let's call it The Perfect Storm - listening to too much Ticket radio (Baseball Jesus), finally appreciating great hometown pitching, fascinated by fantastic "small ball" with Jules Bourbon and Tiny Elvis, etc etc etc.
For the first time since I played YMCA ball (like, 25 years ago - ouch...), I'm a baseball fan! I think I've reached the same "tipping point" that I did with the Mavs a few years ago. I've watched enough of the game to finally pick up on the nuances and separate the wheat from the chaff. I can now watch a no-crowd doubleheader like the one against Cleveland and get excited in spite of the fact that they've got barely 500 people in the stands.
I mentioned this in a previous post, but when the home crowd started going apeshit for O'Day the other night, I got goosebumps - even watching it on TV.
So, anyhow, the race is still tight, and we've got plenty of games left against the Angels, so I think we can still pull out The Impossible - a Division Championship!
Whoulda thunk it?
(Knock on wood, before I jinx anything...)

We're 2.0 games down in the wild card race against Boston. Two of our best players are currently out with injury (Young and Hamilton). Maybe we'll get Hamilton back tonight. Boston is blessed with a cush 4 game series at the end of their season.
For the first time in a VERY long time, the pitching has been good and the bats have been hot. I've seen more double plays executed by this team than I have in a long time and watching double steals is just exciting.
I'm watching more of these games than my wife cares for...
I will be happy if the Rangers secure the wildcard slot this year. It's a big improvement over last year -- and many years prior to.

With only 5 games left in the season, the Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs last night. They were much improved and show a lot of promise for next season.
Hopefully Hicks will sell them ASAP and they will get some financial support going forward.

I dislike watching MLB baseball. I like playing the sport, but it is too sloooow to watch. I even played baseball in Jr. High, High School, and adult softball, and I don't like watching it.

On TV or at the stadium. I read about some people complaining that baseball was too long of a game or to slow. The truth is if you are wanting to leave the stadium right after the game starts you are doing it wrong. The fun of it is to sit back drink a beer, soak up some sun and see a homerun or two.
To truly appreciate a baseball game on TV, you need to turn the TV volume off and turn on the radio broadcast. I spent 2 years working the board at a radio station for Oakland A's games, where my only real responsibilities were playing the legal ID at the top of the hour and playing the commercials between innings. I long for the days of sitting in that dark studio late at night, listening to the radio broadcast while watching on a 9" BW monitor. Now only if I could make my current salary to do that.
