Thread: Winter Series?

    Long ago...

ER used to have a "Winter Series".

There's a reason ER doesn't have a winter series anymore......

    Attendance!

The idea of a winter series always sounds like a good idea to a lot of folks when the temp is still above 40. But when the temps drop & the wind chill hits, not so many show-up at the event.

Even the youth of the sport seem to stay home on those days!

But I thought that when you were a kid, you used to autocross uphill in 3 feet of snow???

OK...so how about a test-n-tune or fun run day once or twice over the winter? Think we'd get enough turnout for that?

Nah - it was karting and in ETEX, we never had 3 feet of snow. If it was snowing, I was watching TV.

Based on the lack of interest at Mineral Wells events in good weather (for example, next weekend's NTAXS event), I am not about to try to have an event there in the Winter. That is not to say that the idea of a Winter Series is dead, but the events would be at Pennington Field if we do this.

Sounds great to me!!! I think mineral wells is starting to fall apart just in general. Last time I was there, I saw mutlipul cars throwing up pieces of the road surface.

When I took my tires off yesterday, 5 days of daily driving after the TTT event at Mineral Wells, my tires *still* looked terrible. That surface is really hard on tires!

LOL no kidding that place hasn't had any maintenance done to it since the Army stopped using it for helicopters. You're talking 30+ years of no work being done to it.
