Used to be the water meter reader walked the street taking his readings. Today, I heard a car door slam and looked out the window to see a white car driving house to house. The meter reader would get out, walk over and read the meter and then back to the car, then idle up to the next house. Lather, rinse, repeat. From what I can tell, it looks like it takes longer than just walking the route.
Oh yeah, on the side of the white car it says "Colleyville, Going Green!".![]()

I'm surprised they haven't went to electronic ones like the power company's electronic power meters.

The latest water meter they installed at my place has a transmit radius of somewhere between 0.5 and 1 mile... They don't even need to roll down the street anymore.
