Sorry, not able to go to this. Transmision still not right and not enough time due to business obligations. I don't think I would have had any fun with a supercharged 4 speed there.
Ya'll have tons of fun for me and post lots of vids and pics when ya get back.
I drive to fast to worry about my cholesterol.
I never went into 5th at HHR. Barely got to the top of 4th (basically unless you're really pushing it, you won't see 100).
Yea but he has to drive it there and back from east Texas. Sorry you can't make it CarCar.
Ok so BenRomans is driving down and back same day and jeffman is staying with a buddy. So can anyone recommend a cheap hotel near Austin or the track where I don't have to worry about my car getting vandalized?
Ask Sondra. There's a hotel they used for the last event that worked out pretty well.
We stayed in downtown Austin (walking pub distance, woohoo!) in a $80 room via priceline. Parking was like $15, but it was secure, in a basement.
Thanks. I was thinking of staying near Austin for the night life.
Last time I stayed in the Courtyard Marriott downtown on 4th street. Walking distance to all of the bars, free, secure, underground parking, and a decent breakfast buffet the next morning. Rooms were nice, too. I'll stay there again the next time I'm in town.

Definitely stay in town. It's an easy 20-25 minute drive to the track from the city - all highway, no issues.
Think I'm gonna be a wild child and drive down earlier Saturday morning and head back that night.... I have all day Sunday to rest.
Any one towing down and can take 1 or 2 sets of tires? Ben lost his trailer =(
nah, only turn 1 is really scary lol. Go play at Hallett to be puckered for a whole circuit![]()
After putting in some passenger seat time, I can attest that turn 5 is the pucker-turn. BLIND.
1994 R-package - gone, but not forgotten.
1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Restification in progress. or should I say De-RUSTification in progress?
1984 Honda VF1100S. V4 Fury!
hitting the bump after apexing 6 at ~110 and feeling like the car is going be shot across the track into the trees then coming out of 8 flat out and skipping down the track like your on a jet sky is quite the ride.
Need that limited slip...this open diff ain't cuttin it!!!
I wish i were in Austin.![]()

Had a great time but it was way too short. At 14mpg I burned less than half a tank. I wish that track and Hallett were closer to home. I didn't have a transponder but NC Eunos timed me and said I got a 1:40. I timed him and he had a 1:39.
The new cheese graters did ok but I got some fade into 10 and went deep a couple of times. I would love to do the same track twice and compare discs. Maybe I can do that at ECR if they have the weekend toys for tots again. I got no pics but did get some video despite the troubles with the camera. I'll post a link when I figure out how to get the vids online. Speaking of video, Jeffman didn't have his camera with him but I didn't know that. So I spun my car around in turn three to wave to him, ala Trickyrix style, for nothing.
Fun time, fun track, and great seeing Boisking again!
PS. The_Geezer was trackmaster for the event but didn't bring his sweet NC so I didn't get a chance to check it out. But he did bring his brand new Astin Martin Vantage and gave me a few laps in it. His warm up lap felt like a 1:30! The car had amazing grip and torque; sorta like a Corvette but more luxurious and stable. Thanks Geezer!
Had a great time and nice meeting all you guys. I think after losing breaks going into 4 was one of the scariest feeling in my whole life. Guess I need to prep the car a little harder in the future.
