Default New to Miata, new to the site

    Greetings, Hello, Howdy...

So I've been harboring this lust for a Miata for a few years, after driving a little supercharged 1.6L, and realizing that my big butt really COULD fit in one of these little gloves with wheels. In a family of five, it took a while to align the stars, but I grabbed a '91 Mariner blue that I like pretty well so far.

A few weeks in and I'm learning a bit about the car, but find Miata.net a bit overwhelming, even for a seasoned forum type. Figured the next order of business would be to connect to the locals... so "hi".

Uh, about the car (I suppose that's what we are here for, yes?)... It's one that no doubt most of you saw on CL, some of you may have even looked at. Other than an after market radio, and some wheels (14s still), it seems to be stock. That leaves little to really report on it, but who knows what I'll uncover. I do know that it has that short nose/small nose/whatever is significant about that nose crank, according to VIN info, but unknown if it's ever been an issue for a PO or been addressed.

About me, NE Fort Worth near Keller/Watauga. I drive the car to Uptown Dallas everyday for work, and enjoy the non-rain days. Speaking of that... the sun is out! Time to find an errand to run.

Welcome aboard. I would not be overly concerned with the short nose crank as it would have failed long ago if it was bad. I bought mine in 89 and it is still going strong. The only issue that I have run into is you can not buy a light weight pulley for the short nose crank. I live in Keller so am glad to see another Westsider.

Welcome, and if you're ever looking for POS's house, just ask where the meanie lives. All his neighbors know him - especially the HOA Lady
