Nicely built and holds my big and small starbucks cups tight.

Another question about this one, I almost ordered it tonight, but I want to see where you mounted it or get some feedback on how you have it mounted. Any hints or photos?

Mine is in the passenger knee area. closed, causes no issues.... open, and a passenger might rub your knee on it. My girlfriend and roomate have no issues with it, more comfortable than the wedgie.
First 2 with cups (i don't drink lots of coffee....) last pic closed

Those are the only pics I can find where you can see it. I'd take a better picture, but she is parked in my parents garage.

oh, and as for install, i think they send you 4 screws, i think i just used 2. seemed sturdy enough, and 2 small holes wouldn't be too noticeable if i took it out.

I ordered the Griot's Garage cup holder and returned it. I thought it was too thick to mount on the center console. I don't drink a lot of soda anymore and don't travel with coffee either ( I have spilled many a cup of coffee in previous cars).

    Default My Solution

Thanks for all of the suggestions and comments. I was about to order the one from Griot's, and while I waited for photo feedback (thanks sxk) I found an interesting solution at Target. Bell makes a vent clip-on cup holder (#05597-8 ) that I think looks pretty good, and so for 9 bux, I figured I'd see if I could modify it for my use. It's just slightly larger than the stock can holders, but features an adjuster for smaller cans (like 8oz and 12oz Red Bull cans, which are my most frequent passengers) and allows me to squeeze in a regular bottle too.

Anyway, taking a hint from how most others have mounted the flip down cup holders, I replaced the console screw with a longer one, and kept the screw head out just far enough to require quite a bit of effort to get it into the slot/slide mount used for the vent clips. I think used the supplied piece of velcro to ensure that it doesn't rock back and forth, although it was solid with a drink in it anyway. Last night, it did well with the 44oz Whataburger drink test.

Here it is mounted (no new holes!) empty, and with what I refer to as a "tallboy".

We'll see how it holds up long term, but for now I'm happy with it. Now, to convert that center space for my needs.

It's because they use some code to display the image at that address, that wraps it up in their little web page. The direct link to the image apparently is: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_hMwx__fGea4/Sv...ink_holder.gif

Oh yeah, and funny! If only it were a deeper ice chest. "Why's the side of your shirt wet, is that sweat?" "Nah, just my ice chest leakin'."

For future ref., how do I find out my "actual" address. I store my for-share photos at Google's picture site.

Well, I'm on a Mac using Safari and with this combo you can right-click an image and choose to display the image in a new tab/window. The complete address is displayed in the address bar at that point. I have no idea if this is true for Safari on Windows, but I don't think it's quite this simple with the other browsers. I know that with IE, the right-click to properties function does not always give you the address you need.

With Firefox, there is probably some easy ways to get this, I just don't happen to do it that way.
