Thread: Alliance Airshow

    Default Alliance Airshow

Took my nephews 6 and 8 out to the air show to see the Blue Angels this afternoon. What a beautiful day and they had a great time. They got to climb all over aircraft and I took their picture out on the edge of the fighter jet wing. Lots-o-fun.

If you get a chance you should head out there Sunday, the weather is perfect.

I went last year it was a pretty cool deal. It will be great weather today, except how was the parking? Was it a mud pit?

Parking lot was actually dry, I was surprised.

I got some good photos, the only problem was I was shooting into the sun so the planes were heavily backlighted. And they move so fast its hard to get them in frame with a large telephoto so I had to use a smaller zoom lens.

It was a fun day, the last airshow I was at was 30 years ago. Lots more fun when your with kids.

Why do I always miss these things? This is the 3rd air show I've missed because I knew nothing about it.

I agree, that last one is great!

I haven't been to the Alliance airshow yet, but I was able to grab a picture with our TSTI A&P class in front of one of the Thunderbirds when they were doing the TSTI airshow practice.

I hope to go to OshKosh again in the next couple of years. You just can't beat the EAA Airventure event. Last time I went was in 2005 and I stayed in the town of Ripon at the college. Ripon College was renting dorm rooms fairly reasonably and was set in a quaint German Wisconsin town.

I got to go on one of the last JATO shots Fat Albert will ever do on Saturday I came away from that ride grinning from ear to ear Lets just say that I NEVER thought a C-130 could go that fast or maneuver like that. Granted it is a bit stripped down and a lot lighter than a front line C-130T. And I've heard the T-56s they run on that bird are a bit "breathed" on.

I was planning to go but I decided to save on the $20 parking... I went the last two years though.

Yeah lucky for me and my buddy I got in for free but I thought it was crazy to say "admission free" but "parking 20 dollars per car". Bit of a BS move if you ask me.

Well that way you can pile 10 kids into a van and it is pretty cheap. Vs paying 5-10 per kid. Even just two adults and two kids it is cheaper than 5 per kid and 10 per adult admission. Plus they would probably charge parking too.
