Default Pelican forces Bugatti off road

Pelicans. Why do they hate us?

LA MARQUE, Texas — A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston. The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.
The Lufkin, Texas, man told of driving his luxury, French-built Bugatti Veyron when the bird distracted him, said La Marque police Lt. Greg Gilchrist. The motorist dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up and veered off the road and into the salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.
Gilchrist said he doesn't know if the car was salvageable, but in his words, "Salt water isn't good for anything." He says the man, whose identity hasn't been released, was not injured.
A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million.

A pelican flew in front of me and caused me to drop my cell phone. So I went to pick up my $300 cell phone and wrecked my $1.6 Million sports car. I hope his insurance agent reads that and smacks him upside the head.

If you can afford that car, then I doubt you give a rat's ass what the insurance guy says.

"UPDATE: Thanks to some great follow up reporting by the Galveston Daily News and their sister paper, we now know the man is Andy House of Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin, Texas. The shop, ironically, specializes in repairing wrecked exotics."

That's amazing that they caught the wreck on video. It does not look like the driver was traveling too fast or anything.

Hmmm... perhaps a marketing stunt? The next idiot that wrecks one would likely be interested in taking it to the only shop in the country with Bugatti Veyron repair experience.

One of the things I was thinking about, if this is around Galveston, that car is probably in salt water. Corrosion express!

Let me see if I understand this:

You buy a brand new supercar.

    You intentionally wreck supercar.

You collect insurance to pay off brand new supercar.

You then buy back supercar with dummy corporation or third party.

You then fix and sell supercar at prices way over salvage.

You then laugh all the way to the bank.

You then get caught on youtube.

    You go to prison?

For ppl still looking for the crash video. The guy who shot the video has it on his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/video/video....1617407&ref=mf

"I think it's a Lambo." <-- I would have probably chosen to over-dub that or something.
