You too, huh? I once remember needing a new engine for my Saab, which I believe Sven and company sent over by sea kayak, since it took three months to arrive.Originally Posted by tailchaser

As long as the offenders insurance company is paying for the rental car... hell, let Sven and Fritz take as long as they'd need.

I take it you never saw the episode of "Seinfeld" where he gets the rental car... the young lady asks him if he wants the insurance and he answers "Yes, 'cause I'm going to beat the hell out of it"!![]()
It was close midnight by the time tow truck and all. I had it tow to Hancck Mazda at Mesquite. The next day Hancock had it tow to a body shop call Body Shop on Northwest Highway across from Fry's. If I know better I would had it tow to Town North, at least I know someone over there.
The shop is telling me that they use OEM parts. This AM the shop guy called me that the insurance only pay for non-OEM radiator! I think the body shop knows that I mean business when I say I want OEM parts only. It was nice that he called me. I called the adjuster. Like any "good" ajuster would do, he made himself "not available" and not return call. I end up leaving messages on his phone and back up with fax pleading my case.
I didn't ask for a rental, since this is my extra car. In pleading my case I point out that I am already saving him $ for getting rental. But I have not told him that I will claim the differential in resale value b/o of the accdient. I want to make sure it is fixed the best possible way before I hit him with more $. If all fail, I may have to use my last weapon of saying that I suddenly can not move my neck, my head hurt and has to go to the hospital. This will really make pay big bucks!
I went to Service King before. Not a very good experience. They use non-OEM parts, repaired a panel rather replace with a new one as promised, paint over-spray everywhere, took almost a week longer than promised.
I have never have any positive experience any body shop peroid!

I would have told them to go to hell! Boy that chaps my hide... at the least, insurance companies (should be) are entitled to replace with stock parts.Originally Posted by gabkwong

Otherwise I'll be paying my yearly premium in pennies... hell, it's the equivalent to cash right?
Let me clarify with Service King in West Plano. Chain or not, they're not all the same. Plus... I don't have to worry about non-OEM parts because there aren't any - my wagon sold <900 units a year stateside, and less than 500 units total with my rear hatch, bumper and fenders. That and the damaged panels are clearly non repairable.
Rental is a lovely Ford Taurus. Beige. I think my new sport will be parking as close to as many of them as possible like we did back in '98 when the whole world was driving green Honda Civics. It's great fun watching people try to figure out why their key won't fit.
