they took my cheap a$$ POS radar detector. that's it. some other lady had her mustang convertable broken into the same night...i understand from the cop (a friend of the family) that they took her warranty papers and insurance card and a couple of cd's. i always take my face plate inside at night, so it's still here and fine. and if i could get out of my apt lease without costing an arm and a leg and my firstborn child, i would leave. but unfortunatly it's harder than that. so i'm stuck here until may. but hopefully i'll be able to find a decent hardtop to keep on it in the meantime. thanks for your help though

many times, insurance will not cover loss or damage that occurs if the doors are unlocked. but like someone said before in this thread, most theives really aren't that observant, and tend to not check for unlocked doors. the fact that the only cars messed with were both convertibles, tells me thats what these particular punk a$$ kids were looking for and i doubt seriously that my radar detector is what they broke in for (Too bad for them the only other thing in there is empty cigarette packs, guess they don't save their marlboro miles). it just really infuriates me that people are so pathetic as to feel the right to destroy the things that i spend my earned money on, just becase they want to. the first time this happened i was pissed. now, i'm almost past that point, almost sick and disgusted. i will say this, whoever they are, they should seriously hope the police find them first and protect them from me. i'm looking...

Almost 20 years ago when I was trying to buy my first house I was stuck in a lease. I told my apt. manager what I was doing, and she advised me to call the police about someone lurking around your door/windows/car/etc. (you've already done that and have proof!)

She then told me to document with the apt. complex that I didn't "feel safe" there anymore and wanted to move because of it. At the time that was all I needed to get out of the lease. Don't know if it's still valid but may be worth a shot!

For getting them- post a WTB here on the boards. I got a set that way in about a week for $20. Make sure you get the screws too.

For installing them, you need to first remove your side panels. On the inside, there is an oval marking. Cut this oval out with a dremel, and then re-install them. The nuts that the latchs screw into are already welded to the car, right behind where you cut out the plastic.

I had someone slash the top on my new Jeep wrabgler a few years back and the damned windows zip ou tof them from the outside so go figure.

This brings a question to mind , I dont leave anything in the car at all but I am scared of it getting stolen, does anyone know where or how or both to instal a kill switch for a reasonable price?
This is like the first thing I wanna do to the car.

Ya'll know the insurance company wouldny pay me what my car is worth since its a 99 even though it has 38K on it custom paint etc etc.

I sure would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

My condolences about your top,...I know how it feels and it sux bad.

I vote Cabrio World for a top too!

My dad had two miatas have their tops slashed in the same night. Thieves didn't get away with a thing. Ironically, all doors were all unlocked. Stupid theives. But now his a Mariner Blue has a tan top, and it really looks pretty good.
