Sedan? Dude... Wagons are da bomb! Especially since you've been spoiled by the cargo room of the Expedition for the past few years...
Hey MadMerv I see you list a 03 Mazda6 as part of your fleet? I need to replace my company car, the V6 Mazda6 looks like a car that would fit within my self imposed budget constraints. How have you liked the car, any problems?
Does anyone else have any suggestions for a sub $30K sedan; I need to get one in late February.

I have to second the idea of getting the wagon...
I wish I'd had the opportunity to pick up the Passat GLX TDI Variant with Syncro back when I was shopping my OTM in '99... unfortunately, we're not in Canada. Damn canucks had that option in 1999.
I saw a Mazda 6 wagon on the showroom floor of Town North Mazda... looked pretty sweet!
I don't know if I want a wagon, but I do like the 5 door Mazda6!

Speaking of wagons, how about a sweet Hurst Olds Vista Cruiser? Sweet huh?![]()

That reminds me of the first station I worked at -
We had a "live" truck built on a AMC Eagle chassis... much like this one -
4x4 Wagon!!
Edit - Another pic...

Don't forget... Wagons are invisible on police radar. Plus... I'd hate to think what opening that rear hatch would feel like when the hydraulics gave out...Originally Posted by POS Racing

HAHAHAHA TC - It'd feel like my head did when the struts died on the hatch on our Grand Cherokee! YEEEEOUCH!

I had a 5-door '84 Mazda 626 for a couple of years in the early '90s. When one of the hatch struts finally gave out at 135,000 miles, a replacement one was readily available at VatoZone for less than twenty bucks. So I wouldn't let that be a deterrent.Originally Posted by tailchaser

Still, as much as I like the Mazda6 5-Door, I really dig the wagon, and silly deals can be had on them. Looks like Town North Mazda is offering $6500 off MSRP on remaining '04s... and they're already offering $4000 off MSRP on '05s!![]()
I'd personally prefer an '04, since the '05s come standard with those nasty clear riceboy taillights like the one in your picture. The '04s have more conventional (and more attractive, imho) red taillights. But, if you're looking for an auto you'll probably want an '05, which comes with a 6-speed auto instead of the 4-speed auto in the '04s.
Last note - the Mazdaspeed6 MSRP is under $29k. Are you still thinking about one of them? I'd also check out the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, as they're supposed to be quite a lot of car for the money. They're available as a wagon as well.
Maybe an STi? You'd never be late to a client meeting!![]()

I need this thing in the driveway by the end of February start of March, so no Mazdaspeed this time around.Originally Posted by altiain

I'm also shopping for a CB special, I appreciate the link, because every dollar the company spends on transportation is one less dollar for me!![]()
This car project is what has darn near killed the search for the POSIII……..![]()
Are you limiting yourself to sedans... or are SUV's included?
I'm really not wanting another SUV.... I can't afford the gas!Originally Posted by Treibenschnell

Why not get a diesel SUV?Originally Posted by POS Racing
Like what? The only one I'm aware of is the VW 2Rag and it costs a ton.Originally Posted by Treibenschnell
The Toureg is a very nice vehicle... but with VW's service issues and the sheer cost of that vehicle... can't say I blame you.
I'm not up on the SUV market... I'm suprised VW is the only one out there.
The Expedition's big brother is available with a diesel.Originally Posted by POS Racing

When does the weight/size of the vehicle overcome the benefit of the diesel?
