Thread: Looking for shoes... again...

    Default Looking for shoes... again...

I'm not real happy with the low top pumas I bought a while back. I'm looking for some shoes to do track days in. My budget is around $120 or so. Any suggestions on what to get an where to get them from? Should I avoid "kart" shoes, or does that not matter. I found some alpine stars for $100 that I was going to try but want to make sure it doesn't matter that they are for karting (are they stiffer etc?).

    Thanks

I have bought 2 different pairs of Pilotis and was not happy with either of them... I only got them because they were so cheap at Ross. I overlook the like new Pilotis each time I go in to the closet and come out with my old trusty Simpson Impressions every time. I have almost worn threw the soles and will likely be ordering another set just like them when I do.

Should I stay away from mid/high tops? Would I only need those for "real" racing to meet competition rules etc?

Altiain, I will be getting seat time. Learning how to drive is my priority. I'm dedicating a lot of my budget to track time (I'm going to Road Atlanta in two weeks and MSR in a month). What's wrong with having better shoes?

I think Gabkwong has some 10.5 Piloti shoes cheap and they are like new. I would have bought them already if they were size 11. I have another pair just like them and they are very comfortable.

What color are Gabkwong's shoes? I'm looking for the white ones and the royal blue ones.

They got decertified if it's the same impact racing.

I think Majik is implying that they will end up in bankruptcy because of the decertification, so a fire sale can be expected.

They are the grey, black and blue shoes. Look for one of my old posts and there is a picture (I can't attach from my phone).
