Thread: Future Central GTG suggestions...

    Default Future Central GTG suggestions...

This thread is for a possible FUTURE GTG. Keller's is still GO for tonight.

This week's GTG thread pointed out that we ought to figure out an alternative location that's friendlier to the Westies of our bunch. In the past, we've gone as far west as Angelo's in FW, but there has to be something suitable in between Nevada and Mineral Wells...

It's hard to beat Keller's for the combination of cars, beer, burgers, and cheap - but even I wouldn't mind a change of pace now and then. I think the majority of us are East Siders, but maybe we could shift west once a month, or once every other month to see how the other half lives. So, let's hear it... throw out your suggestions and maybe we can turn it into a poll over the next few days. Here's a few previously-used venues to get you started:

    Twin Peaks - Lewisville
    Wilhoite's - Grapevine
    Palio's Pizza - Colleyville
    Angelo's - Fort Worth

    Dig in...

TWIN peaks gets my vote it seems to be more centralized and they hav e good scenery :). Other than that I'm not really familiar enough with this area to get a really good suggestion in.

One more thing... as for timing, maybe we could plan ahead and make it a weekend GTG. Any thoughts?

Lewisville or Grapevine gets my vote. Peaks has better parking and they have a porch on that side of the building.

I am not too much into sitting around a table drinking, so I would rather find a drive-up, like Keller's. I am not aware of any closer to the west side.

There used to be a east side get together in NRH at a decent pizza joint that I though was pretty good.

I think you're thinking of Palio's in Colleyville. (Above in Rick's list)

We could always just hit a Sonic possibly. IIRC there's a Sonic in Plano that hosts a bike night every week. Maybe some sonic in the NRH or Lewisville area would do the same.

I recall a good meet at the Sonic in grapevine many moons ago.

I work in NRH so that's always good for me. :) Grapevine would be good for me as well.

Lewisville still has a wed night meet so I'm sure we could go over there on another night. They have a large parking lot right beside the business. You would have to walk over to get your food though because they will not come over to the empty lot. With that said TP still gets my vote.

Since trickyrix posted a few places I thought I'd mention that there is a Palio's in Grapevine as well. Much easier to get to than the one in Colleyville and they have a big outdoor patio next to the parking lot that will be open starting next week. BYOB.

That sounds pretty cool... as I remember, they had great pizza, but parking and patio seating was a little sparse in Colleyville.

Howzabout you Westies start up the Official Westside GTG thread? If you build it, we will come...

Parking is the problem with Wilhoite's. Miatas scattered everywhere.

I remember that now... if you didn't get there early, you were SOL and had to park at the funeral home...
