Thread: Another new guy

    Smile Another new guy

I'm from Waco and have an RX8. I joined up on this forum to learn a little bit about Miatas and hopefully find myself a cheap, reliable, and still fun to be in DD. I would just drive the 8 everywhere, but I'm fixing to move and have myself a nice 40 minute daily commute to med school. Getting an engine replaced at 37k miles and averaging 18-19mpg aren't too conducive to long commutes lol.

Cool wheels and nice looking car. They really drive like four-seat Miatas.

So, you are working your way through med school at the tattoo parlor? Going to be a dermatologist? Welcome.

You work at the tat shop? I need to finish (technically start with how little I have done already) a 1/3 sleeve. I was going to fly out to my friend in NJ, but he just moved to Florida and isn't plannng on being set up for quite a while.

And I'm not a fan of RX8s at all, but yours looks very clean. Very very clean

Nope I don't work at the tattoo shop. I have been inside once when my stupid friend had a few drinks and we convinced him to get the batman symbol tattooed on his shoulder (what an idiot). It was the only place that had a sorta decent backdrop that I could find. I'm hoping to do something with orthopedics, like sports medicine or pediatric ortho. Thanks for all the compliments. On a side note, I just got my car back and the new motor feels SOOO much better. It may be the week in a Hyundai Accent that desensitized my butt dyno, but it feels stronger than the old motor pre-loss-of-compression. The mechanic that did all the work seems to be in love with my car and he couldn't stop complimenting the JIC coilovers.

Main thing holding me back from picking up a miata right now is I'm not sure of my budget. I'm about to move out (to League City by Houston as of today), get married, and start med school all in a couple months. I'm probably going to hold off until I better understand my financial situation to get another car to DD. Fiancee should be able to get a teaching job and I should get plenty of student loans for us to live comfortably and me get a 3-5k ish miata. That's what I hope anyways. It'll be a learning experience for sure.

damn man. congrats on getting married. med school is going to be tough, but it will all pay out in the end. and 3-5K for a miata will be enough for a good one. i got mine for 4 and its great

http://waco.craigslist.org/cto/1715287044.html If this car ends up being in good condition, what is it worth? I can't wait to get married. It'll start a new part of my life and should be fun.

you could prob talk him down to 2K. make sure you check for the crank pulley wobby. also make sure the rear end isnt acting funny, the old 1.6 rear ends are pretty weak. other than that the paint looks good, i like the roll bar and id go check it out and see what you think personally

I really don't have any money though...........well he doesn't know that. I'll try to go check it out.
