It was a fun day on a course a little different (in a good way) than usual. Very fast course with nice 180 sweepers. It took a different type of driving style than I am used to. Good day.

Popped my AX cherry today. I had a good time at the event and the course was a hoot - best time was a 56.781 in run 7.

Good meeting all the guys that were out there!

Really nice course, and sooo much fun to have a few drift corners in there. :) Sorry I couldn't stick around for my afternoon runs. <--mark, set, GO!

Fun day and a great high speed course! I really enjoyed it. I puked out about a quart of power steering fluid just before my first run of the afternoon. Same thing happened to me at BMW Event #1! I cut the PS belt off and ran the afternoon runs fighting the non-powered power steering. I think I'll just put on a manual rack and see how I like it instead of trying to fix the power system again. Good to see a couple of new Miata pilots trying their hand at AX, hope you guys had fun and will return in the future!

My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

I showed up too late. I came by to say hi since I was out that way checking a possible fun-run route to Propwash. Sorry that I missed cone-cerned, POS Racing, Trickrix, and OZMDD. Saw Six Ace, Kasia90 and Brandonmpace. He showed me his rubbermaid two-legged step stool trophy that he won with the coaching help of jrj512! Saw Mark52 (without power steering) turn a very fast 53 second run. Nice car and driving BTW Mark.

Then I saw ken o. He called me out as a poser since I wore one of my many twenty dollar pairs of Pilotis from Ross Dress for Less but wasn't autocrossing!

Well it was the end of the day and the course was still open for fun runs for those who help to collect the cones. So I decided to get in my car and show him I had mad skillz!

I squealed the tires a bit but got traction in second gear and corrected the slide (no LSD on my car) I then easily and swiftly proceeded to the end gate where the timers recorded a blistering 43.986 seconds.

I got out of my car expecting accolades and questions as to what I had done to my car to make such a low time. That's when ken o leaned in and told me the course was not a straight line.

Oh well. At least I brought in 18 cones without ever getting out of the car.

Here are some Photos from today's event.

My friend and I enjoyed the day.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

I did the swap on my 92, and it was a breeze. Sheds some weight too. You'll need new tire rod ends and tie rods, since the threads are different.

I depowered mine with the plugs from Here and took the whole system out - pump, pressure lines, cooling loop, etc.. If you want to remove the big bracket on the side of the block, there's a bolt for the oil pump that needs to be replaced as well ( I can try to track down the P/N on that from mazda if you'd like). Much much better feel from the front end of the car, and while the steering is heavier in the paddock and driveway, it's hardly noticeable on the street or track once you're in motion. The faster rate definitely helps with keeping from getting your hands crossed up.

If it was the run where you went off the end of the finish lane and hit 2 cones it should not have been a DNF. You should have just received a penalty for 2 cones. If it changes the results I will update it.

Unfortunately, CSP rules don't allow me to depower the rack. I have to replace it with a manual rack. (STUPID RULES!) But I'll keep the power rack for use in the DP car that I am planning to build over the winter. Thanks for the info, didn't know that Spec Miata allowed depowering!

OZMDD - I didn't know you had a Miata before the Yaris! What were you thinking when you switched to the Yaris! Thanks for the tie rod info, I would not have known that.
