    LOL. I actually had the Yaris first, tried autox and got hooked, bought the NA for my "autox" car, decided it was a hassle/expense having that many cars, sold it and built-up the Yaris for autox, and finally realized that I didn't actually need a back seat, but I DO need a real sports car, not a dressed-up econobox!

    The other theory is that I'm trying to become Ken-O II: how many cars can I own in a year...

    The course was a lot of fun! I have video of my last 4 runs that I'll post soon. The video definitely showed me a few places I could improve.
    I hope to make it to more autocrosses soon because I had a blast.

    I apologize for not explaining this to the OP at the event. The two cones in question were part of a wall. Walls are used on courses to generally represent a course boundary and/or may indicate to a driver a mandatory change of direction is needed. With LSC BMW, going through or knocking down a portion of a wall is a DNF, whether it is before after the timer lights. In this particular case, that wall was there to ensure safety in the area of the van. Awesome run, great time, but you overcooked the brakes (in a fairly major way actually) and hit a wall. Did it really take away your best time? EDIT: Doh! looks like it was your best run... But even if time were added at one second per cone, then that's still an additional two seconds and easily not your best run.

    had you not made the turn, and, say... knocked down two of the four standing cones, it would not be a DNF per SCCA?
    I guess I certainly would not agree with that...

    Per SCCA if you enter the course where you left the course it does not count as a DNF. If I went thru the wall and backed up thru the same spot in the wall it would not be a DNF or if I went thru and hooked a U turn back thru the same spot it would not be a DNF. Now to get even more detailed. If there is a wall and I hit the end cone plus others it would not be a DNF and I could keep going because I hit the cone on the end of the wall.
    M3 is always the answer.

    gotcha... wow. Well that's certainly interesting! The U turn scenario was exactly what I was thinking of.. ... and of course the end cone on the
    wall... I guess that makes sense in SCCA -land because of some of the way they have their elements... Well I'm all for simpllicity..

    Just for info to all.. Here's how LSC rolls..

    Three or more cones lined up together (laying down or vertical) =wall.... hitting wall = DNF.
    The committee had already been discussing putting rules on the back of the course maps again...it sounds liike it would help to have an easy guide.

    I did like the course, but unfortunately didnt put together a real solid run... kinda disappointed in my driving...

    Thanks for the explanation, i knew it wasnt going to be my best on the results but on the timer it was, it felt good getting the second off on my Rio but yeah that brakes lock up and couldnt do anything but still had fun while doing it :)

    i'll be on the next event for sure.

    Ohh and thanks Doug for showing some Kia luv :)

    That was slippery and fun out there! Great times! I finally stopped getting lost in the sea of cones, "looked ahead," and made a couple of decent (for me) runs at the end of the day.

    One comment made was that the speed at this event was higher than other event at TMS. So due to the speed increasing the level of grip decreased. Thoughts?

    The surface was slick as owl sh*t in the AM for group 1. It was like driving in the rain. I though it felt pretty good during the PM runs. Top speed for the Exige was 76.

    Lotus Exige S was gorgeous
    almost always see them with black wheels, but those wheels looked really nice on it.

    good point on the higher speeds ken.. im gonna need some wider rims so i can put down more rubber..these stock 17x7's just aren't really doing it for me...

    Yeah I may have been the one to bring that up with you. I think it's not that the surface was less grippy, but more of that a driver would want to carry more speed and break later then the surface allowed. I don't know if this was the same for the lighter cars, but I know my car always hates braking on that surface, so that combined with me over driving and not just easing off to get on the throttle more smoothly cost me way to much time.

    Even on the straights I was having to lift just a little bit because I was always trying to carry more entry speed then I could, which would make my exits pretty bad.

    Yeah, that is the truth. That tms surface is just difficult to me sometimes. The gti's brakes are pretty potent, but the pedal gives very little feel so it's hard to kind of just brush off speed. On surfaces with grip like pennington or mineral wells you can just get on the brakes hard but at tms if your not very smooth it just makes the car skid.
