I'm also curious about what would happen during a crash. In a side impact situation will the bars deform further into the passenger compartment?

I can't imagine you'll get hit by anything that low, guys... If we were in an area where there are plenty of plows driving around, I'd see the concern. I know my stock height '01 Pathfnder's front bumper is higher than those door bars would be on my car, and my car isn't exactly low. I think you'll get a bumper to the head before you get a door bar to the thigh.

I think trickyrix either has or is about to install the door bars. Maybe he will add his two cents to the discussion.

My 1994 came with a full butterfly brace which was a huge improvement over the base 1990 I had with no bracing.

From the pictures on HD website, you do have to lift your butt up and climb in and out. You can no longer just slide in and out. I guess if you don't have to dress half way decent to go to work, it will work in DD. Otherwise, be prepare to wear wrinkle shirts and pants to work.
