Thread: Tach signal for data logger

Default Tach signal for data logger

Last week I picked up a Race-Keeper system along with the tach input cable which is just a single wire.

I've tried to hook it up, but when I plug it into the recorder box the in dash tach stops working. Unplug it and the dash tach comes back to life.

So far, I've tried to connect it to the small screw labelled Tach on the back of the instrument cluster with a ring terminal and to the IG- port in the diagnostic connector box with the same result.

Any idea where to put this one wire to get a 1-12v square wave RPM signal for the data logger? I'm running the stock ECU and stock ignition setup in a 90 1.6.

G-tech uses the 1-12v source from the cig lighter. That's where I pick up my tach signal for single wire.
I use to worry about money; but then realized I don't HAVE anything to worry about.

    Goodluck.
I have the revlight that pdf was written for and had success using the instructions for tapping the diagnostic port.
