Welcome, there is a great Miata waiting just for you. All you have to do is find it. Good luck.
There is an autocross at Pennington Field, AKA Pennington Motor Speedway or PMS, this coming Sunday. Come out and see a lot of Miata driven by a lot of boys and girls with big smiles on their faces.

As a mazda speed owner, I suggest glancing at the mazda-speed.com wtb forum from time to time to check for MSM's for sale. Look forward to another MSM owner in the DFW area. :)

actually im thinking about getting the mazdaspeed on his site. his establishment is about 20 minutes from my fiance's house so i hopped in the car with my (soon to be) father in law who happens to own a red 90 with hardtop and all the goods and we went and checked it out. he had some beautiful cars out there.
im just curious as to the feedback people have had with bob and if he is legit or not. some of those cars are really nice i just want to make sure im not getting the ringer.
my buddy teo in lake worth has a grey 05 MSM with hardtop with some FM goodies and a harddog. very nice car. He really set my kick on miata's off after he got it a year or so ago.
I know that all the times i have found one and it didn't work out. It just wasn't the one for me. im sure my quest will find me the miata that will bring my many great times
Welcome...he does have some beautiful cars for sure. He's on the forum here as rfc.
Welcome aboard! Definitely try and make it out to Keller's - with or without a Miata. You can browse the field while enjoying a good, cheap burger and a cold beer if you're so inclined.

Welcome.
My 2 pennies: If you get the mod bug rather easily and fairly hard, I would avoid getting an MSM.
and why is that? because i do have a mod bug. although this car comes with intake, exhaust, BOV, and boost controller, although only the intake seems to be flying miata to me. i just want a fun roadster that i dont have to put thousands in to enjoy. id really like a na any year with a 90-93 dash but i cant seem to find one in good shape for a good price.
They're difficult to find in nice shape. Although the 90-93 models represent half of all Miatas made, they're all old. And usually are on their third or fourth owner - which means they haven't been taken care of as well as other newer or more expensive cars have. My advice to you is to find one that runs well, has decent original paint (at least on the tub portion of the body), and is the year you want. Everything else can be fixed easy. You can replace dented body parts on the front (sometimes with other parts the same color), everything in the interior can be swapped out, changing the top really is an easy - though time consuming job. Servicing the engine, brakes, transmission and diff after it's been neglected makes a world of difference.
thankyou for the advice. if i cannot find a MSM that id like im going to definitely get a NA, id enjoy any miata of any year. there wonderful cars and im begging to get my hands on one.
Depends on how bad you get the bug. Personally, I would rip every last thing out of an MSM that is turbo-related (ECU and all), so it'd be a complete waste. The few MSM owners I know all have the "hiccup" or whatever is a common problem on some of them. They all also started having issues when they replaced the downpipe with a much better one. They all had to pull the turbo to have the wastegate hole bored out. None of them want to put in a different manifold/turbo, because, well, that defeats the purpose of an MSM. They are GREAT cars, don't get me wrong.
If your mod bug is only little things like suspension, a bigger intercooler, etc etc, then I would consider an MSM.
If you really want a 90-93 car, just think that the money you save once you find one will go a long way on mods - you are more than likely going to end up with a car that performs better than an MSM. And your insurance would be loads cheaper too (I hope you priced that out if your parents aren't helping with that).
As an MSM owner, the MSM is fun bone stock, I've already added the FM intake, and wishing I had more money for the full exhaust. There are several aftermarket parts available, but only by a handful of vendors. My car seems perfectly reliable though I have not tracked the car yet (although many MSM owners have). Another question for you would be how much power do you want to make, the stock turbo maxes out around 225 hp, but there are new turbo upgrades available that will take the MSM up to 300+hp (assuming the motor holds up). If you think you'll be happy topping out around 210hp with a few more mods then the MSM is probably a good choice. If you think you want 300+hp, you will probably be better off starting with a custom project using a cheaper miata. Good luck either way =)

Exactly my point :) It all depends on how hard (and what type of) the mod bug hits you.
I would still look into insurance first though. You might be surprised - not saying you will be, but the MSM owners I know all pay quite a bit more than NA owners, regardless of age. And it makes sense. I know I paid $5300 a year for insurance on my Z at 19 years old...they like to bend young males over on certain cars - it's like the word "turbo" on anything related to insurance adds $1000. Can't tell you how many retarded friends I know that went out and bought 93+ Supras, RX7s, NSXs, etc because they could "afford" them, just to find out they couldn't afford insurance.
Strange...I'm paying almost the same on my insurance as was on my old 97. But wouldn't hurt to check ahead on that.
