BTW, on the way home my new (sat in a box for years) slave cylinder died again. Then, teh car started reeking of gear oil. I flipped out thinking I killed the trans or something. I'm crawling under the car, sticking the camera phone under the car looking for holds in the trans or gear oil. I get back in the car and drive more. Then, something vomits this weird, orang, hot gunk all over my legs. Then, it determined it was the speedo cable barfing on me.

Welcome to tracking a 21-year old car.

    Here's a 1:28.3:

Man, I've improved a lot in the last 6-months. My hands are slower, I'm trail braking, and trusting the grip. I still need to work on "one steering input" but "Rome wasn't built in a day!" I think this is the first video I've made where I'm not embarrassed to share. :)

If you want, compare it to last year:

This year's vid is about 1-second faster (on a super-green track) and much more exciting. I've started thinking about tenths and hundredths on each corner because there is no full second in any one place, so I get upset when I see one tenth slower, lol. I do not understand how the pros do this crap.

Does anyone have pictures that do justice to the amount of rain that fell on Friday?
Hopefully Ashley will post some wet stuff up (along with the cool slo-mo vid) since he spent more time on the water than Noah and his Ark.

Only 44 cars in the group pic, how does that affect next year? Glad you all had fun. No incidences I'm guessing?

I think there were 61 drivers, but many of us sat up in the cafe eating lunch instead of sitting in the sun sweating balls, then going right back out to the track for session 3.

Casualites? Kiefersmith lost his motor, and mr brg was awarded a tampon at the banquet.

Unfortunately due to circumstances I missed the banquet/prize giveaways. They didn't give away a free crate 1.8L engine did they? BTW, I did have a great time right up until the moment my motor let go.

I had Mr. BRG for an instructor the first two sessions. Couldn't have asked for better instruction and I definitely learned a lot (Many thanks Trey.... "AND don't look at me!" ).

Also, many thanks to the Arkansas miata club. A great group of people who did an incredible job putting on the event. They made it look easy but they obviously had put in a lot of work behind the scenes.

Hopefully will get to go again next year, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Sorry about the problems dude. You still got ten 1:33's in one session! Five in a row. My best was a 1:34.5 for Saturday and a 1:56 on Friday. Thanks for hauling my tires up and thanks to mr brg and track dog for the jack and torque wrench loans. Was a good time and look forward to next year.

An excellent time as always, in spite of Friday's comically shitty weather. I went out a couple of times after some good direction from Trey, Jeff, and Wags. I think I learned a lot on my last go-round Friday. The track was damp, but there was grip.

Looking at my video from Saturday, I know I left a lot of time out there, but I was pretty consistent so that made me happy. Anyhow, here's some pix and video from the weekend.

Rick you need to send me this pics Michael took of me if they came out.
I had a blast, judging from what everyone was saying their times were I was not doing too bad for being on XS's and pretty much a stock motor setup. I'll have to spring for a timer next year. I got some cool footage from my cay and Stevan's car. Once I get to play with it some I'll post it. And the trip back was fun as usual, and yes guys the turner falls footage came out!!

Pix from the drive home. We had some good eats at the Rock Cafe, Irma's, and Arbuckle Fried Pies - that first bite of coconut cream pie sure tasted good after I got home. I'm glad ya'll talked me into it!
