Daily Driving Tires?

I'll be in the market for a new set of DD tires here in the next month or so. Gonna order from Tirerack. Anybody have any suggestions? They've got some good rebates going on a lot of brands right now...

If I was buying street tires right now, I would probably buy Yokohama S Drives. Maybe someone that has/had will chime in.

I like the Kumho AST, good tire for the money.

bidgestone pole position re-960, they have adequate dry traction, decent in the rain and they last forever!!!

pretty comfortable with the falken ziex 912's they were pretty cheap and work well in dry and wet..

My Star Specs weren't that expensive (~$90 each) and after 6k miles look just barely worn (done 2 autocrosses on them I think). Seems like good wear to me!

When you decide what you want and before you go the on-line route you might check with Todd Eady at Discount Tire in Plano. Any Discount Tire will do price matching, but I've had really good luck working with Cody at the Cedar Hill store (used to be at one of the Arlington stores). Always beats or matches online pricing, has gotten me Hoosiers, V710s and Hankook Z214s in the past, and even gotten tires shaved at a different location and brought back for mounting.

+1 ... they are what I have at the moment and they are doing quite well wet or dry... wouldn't autocross them though...

I run the above tire on my for daily driving and rain autocross when that happens. I've ran them a few times in the dry too. They are all seaon tires but offer enough performance for good spirited on road driving and I've never had them feel like they were even about to hydroplane on wet roads. For a strictly street tire I recomend these.

Loving my S-drives. The Falkens 912's are also excellent. None of these (except Star Specs) would be worth sh** for autox.

Got the Falken 912's to DD and they are pretty good, definitely not near the grip levels of top tier ST tires but good enough for street use. The only thing is they only last about 2X as long as sticky ST tires not 4-5X like I was expecting. If you have a staggered setup the warranty doesn't apply but if you can rotate/balance then you can warranty the tires to 40-50K miles depending on aspect ratio.

I have the 16 inch all season Khumos. They stick pretty well in wet or dry unless you, ahem, over inflate them. got the car in a wicked double ground loop last week after driving through an s curve on ramp on damp pavement. Luckily, I didnt hit anything as it was 5 am. I have been running around with 35 psi in tires. think I'll take them down to 30 psi cold. Anyone got a better set up for tire pressure?
