Thread: Mini v. Mailbox

    Default Mini v. Mailbox

My neighbour took out my mailbox tonight. The mailbox is completely destroyed and the Mini is not moving under its own power.

The tire is pushed back 3 or 4 inches and it hard against the sheetmetal. The transmission is locked in gear.

These were taken after we cleaned it all up. The mailbox was spread across my other neighbours driveway.

The box looks ok. That's what is important.

Time to make a federal case of it... Did the HOA not put up the "watch for mail box" signs?

Do you live in the same neighborhood as Iain? I hear there is a woman that has a thing for mailboxes that lives near him.

Been there, done that. Had a kid plow ours in McKinney and left the unit in the road with all the car parts everywhere. Came outside to a kid trying to leave the scene and a complete brick mailbox laying in the middle of the road. Needless to say that he did not get very far before truck puked its life force out and had to man up to a replacement.
I do feel sorry for the next victim of that mailbox; as it has been reinforced by 18" stubbed rebar in the concrete foundation per owner's specs. :)
I use to worry about money; but then realized I don't HAVE anything to worry about.

We had a lady run her Toyota pickup into ours. She was drinking and had a blowout right near it, pulling her in that direction. She nailed it dead center. Half of the mailbox survived but the truck was totaled.

There is a house up the street that has replaced their mailbox 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years. The mailbox is perfectly located at the apex of the curve, so it has no chance of survival.
