Thread: Hacked up cross over pipe.

Default Hacked up cross over pipe.

So me and some friends were doing a timing belt, water pump, seal, ect. swap the other night. While removing the intake cross over I noticed that there was something wrong.

There are obvious hack saw marks on the pipe itself. like someone held it in mid air and went at it. WTF!

I really want to know what the goal was here. The hole was stuffed with blue shop towels, and topped off with silicone. This "plug" was sucked into the tube by about an inch or so. The silicone was stuck to the towel and held it from being ingested by the motor. I managed to pull it all out. The end was folded in a way that Im sure was all of it.

Can you imagine trying to diagnose a shop towel or parts there of in the motor, intake or anywhere for that mater. Some people should be beat amongst the face and hands for what they do to cars.

Edit: Sorry for the small pics

Reminds me of a guy in high school that lost the oil cap on the top of his engine (don't remember what kind of car, and its irrelevant) so he stuffed a shop towel in the hole to keep oil from splashing out.

Needless to say that did not end well for that engine.
If you're addicted to cold turkey how do you stop?

I reject your reality and substitute my own.
