I went and watched part of one last year at Pennington. It had rained that morning and the lot was wet. It was fun to watch for a bit!

Never went to watch, I'm just too cheap to pay the Spectators fee of $5 per person.

You know, the TCB way would have been to park at McDonalds, have a value meal, watch the drifting from a distance, and still walk away with a couple of dollars in your pocket...

I parked in the small lot just north of Pennington and watched from there.

I stopped by to watch the Pennington Field event for a little while last year. It looked like fun.

Currnetly I've got two full sets of fresh tires, so give me a couple of months to wear some down, and I might have to come out and give dorifto a try.

BTW, MSR Red Miata, welcome to the board.

I would love to be there, but that's my wife's birthday. So I will miss that one. You guys should see MSR Red Miata tandem drift with some of those guys out there.

    They charge to watch? WTF?

I watched their first event for free at Pennington and based on what I saw, $5 is $4.99 to much to charge to watch it.

You don't quite get it from watching until you've actually rode with someone that really knows what they are doing. I guess it just depends on your style of motorsport. I like watching them run, but I love running with them even more. To be honest I'am really blown away by the amount of car control skill these guys have. It all comes down to being able to take your car past the limit and still being in total control, and when they have the skill it actually becomes graceful.

I can say from the time I watched it, you can easily tell who is a good and who isn't.

By the way guys, if you carry a helmet with you some of the guys will actually give you a ride if you ask. MSR Red Miata and the other instructor Ali could probably be persuaded into taking you for a ride during one of the breaks. You have to have a helmet though to ride along, oh and wear pants as shorts are not allowed.

i went to one event at mmineral wells. car wouldnt perform and it was pouring rain, kinda sucked, so i left a noon, i dont feel there is any way i could drift my car in the dry out there, the friction cooeficiant is way high for my low hp car... and its a long drive.

have faith where there are tires that wish to die there is a way. My first miata was a 1.6L spec miata with an open diff and engine that was way down on power! Ask Chris he'll remeber the car. Anyways after practicing a few different techniques we were able to do alot things that we never thought possible with the car. don't forget the clinic guys that is offered with the event it will now be in the morning only so get there early so that we may maximize your track time. cheers

my name is Bryan, i pretty sure i've met you at the ranch. that is true about the specs. but having said that i have had a couple of students with completely stock miatas at the ranch and at texas drift with the open diff that don't do to bad. getting frustrated is one of the worst things that can happen to you in any motorsport, it breaks your concentration and from their your toast. anyways that's where we come in, to help you relax and focus on the task. if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.
