Thread: Anyone use Clear internet at home?

Default Anyone use Clear internet at home?

We are considering a total revamp of our TV, internet, cellular, etc. since we have no contracts and the bills keep going up.

I understand Clear is not as fast as hardwired broadband can be, but we run most of our home computers on our wireless-G wifi, so it isn't all that fast anyway, except if I upload via the one hardwired computer. Also, we are on regular DSL, which doesn't seem especially fast, but its fine for 90% of our needs.

Does anyone actually have the Clear home service? If so, how much downtime have you dealt with? We plan to do the VOIP thing, so reliability is a concern.

    Any other suggestions?

    THX.

    I think Clear runs at 4G speeds...FWIW.

    Mike,
Just switched over to Clear 4G from "Pro" level AT&T DSL. The DSL is supposed to be 3 MB downloads, but I never got over 2 MB and it would fluctuate down to .7 MB all the time and I'd have to reset the modem.

I've had Clear for just over a week now. There has been zero down time and I get 3-6 MB downloads. Not superfast but definitely better than DSL. Some people in the metroplex get 8-10 MB downloads so it's location dependent. It would probably be a good idea to do a search and see if anybody in your area has done some speed tests.

I tried it back in January through March last year and ended up switching to Time Warner. I found the service to be very spotty in my neighborhood and I am less than a mile from the tower. I also had issues with Skype not working while on the Clear network as well as really high Ping rates when tested on speedtest.net. I still have the modems for home and on the go. Try to talk them into the Pick 2 $50/month for life plan. They are hurting for sales right now.
