Yeah, but we'll give you some style points for the biggest smoky spin of the weekend.

I like how the STU AWD cars, running stock boost and 245 street tires nearly matched the 60ft times of the BSP AWD car running more boost and 285 Hoosiers. Wow must be driver skill.

I'm not surprised. In the past we have seen at other pros that the AWD cars launch better when they can get a little bit of wheelspin. Last year someone tested this and launched better with one wheel partially in the rocks. Despite the extra power that Jfo's car has he just can't get the wheelspin that the STU cars can get at launch.

An old timer drag racer taught me the perfect drag launch technique on my bike. Of course, I didn't have the best skills but I knew the technique. The trick is to get the tire to spin 1-1/2 revolutions. I think that less than 1-1/2 revolutions bogs the motor too much and more than 1-1/2 revolutions is a waste of time. On any vehicle you do this by varying the launch rpms as well as clutch and throttle control. On a bike you can also influence weight transfer. You stick your toes out behind the bike like wheelie bars and lever against the handle bars with your arms.

Now if I could figure out how to do that in a Mustang. Maybe a few bowling balls rolling around in the trunk would do the trick.

Congratulations to all the trophy winners.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

I think he's hinting that the STU cars probably aren't running stock boost

What were the 60 foot times? 1.8ish?

Can't believe there wasn't a single Elise/Exige there. Would've been really fast on those courses.

1.7-1.8. I think Jon managed one 1.6 in the BSP car.

That's pretty good on a non prepped gravel surface.

Stock clutch in a STU car isn't going to take those sort of launches. That and upped boost are the two things I'd be really interested to check (although it would be hard as hell to do so).

haha... STi won't be happy with a bunch of 1.6-1.8 launches either... but it will just throw a rod out of the block
