In the mid 1950's, MV Agusta made a 500 cc V8 for their Grand Prix bikes. Never put into a road bike, but I think they used it for three years in the GP bikes.

Some of thoes little engines are about 5k bucks just to sit on that stand and rev it up!! I was going to buy one cuz I'm a gearhead and when I did the research I said WTF...I'll just buy the k member and stuff I need for 4k and finally swap my ls1 that's sitting in my garage waiting for the miata eng bay...

That's amazing... but if you're going to invest that much time, effort, and money why not just build a full size replica that you can actually drive?
