To add another dynamic to the equation. I was strapping my kid into the carseat at home this morning, and I heard lots of honking and yelling so I checked it out. A lady in a truck was driving and was on the phone, a guy in a Scion X(whatever the toaster looking things are) gets close, starts rapping on his horn. By the time I saw it she wasn't even at the intersection yet, just she was on the phone. This all was in a neighborhood and occured under 10mph.

The douche in the scion stopps, starts honking and yelling out the window "F you you stupid Fing b**ch, get off the Fing phone and drive you piece of Sh.." peeled his tires speeding off in a residential neighborhood. He was also turning which even if she blew the stoplight wouldn't have affected him at all.

Granted I didn't see what happened and she was on the phone, but the guy was a total dick. Anyone ever witnessed the supposed anti-phone rage? I've been cussed at / swerved at simply for talking on the phone even though I did nothing wrong, just was on the phone. I don't think holding a rectangle up to your ear is deserving of people loosing their cool over if they're obeying traffic flow.

Disclaimer: I hate distracted cell phone drivers, they suck and cause all sorts of problems. People in la la land while doing anything other than driving are diserving of a few honks to wake them up.

Not too long ago there was a piece on texting & driving (it included talking on a cell phone while driving as well). It stemmed from a FB page that this guy created condoning texting while driving. The page was extremely popular. The news guy that did the piece obtained a closed driving course, complete with typical obstacles you would encounter while driving. He challenged the FB creator to test out his theory on this closed track, and he accepted. BOTH initially touted how they were great drivers and observant, etc., and that they were able to pay attention while texting and/or talking without any problems. They were both shocked at how bad they actually did - and this is KNOWING that they were being observed.

No matter how observant, good a driver, etc. you think you are, you are doing everyone on the road a disservice by not paying attention to the task at hand...DRIVING.
