Thread: So how is your commute?

  1. #1

Default So how is your commute?

What is your commute to work like? Since we moved to "East Jesus" Murphy, my commute went from a 20 minute 75 mph all highway commute to a 14 minute 45 mph all surface street commute and I love it. Much more relaxing with plenty of sweeping turns. I leave work early (4:30am) so the traffic is extremely light and most stoplights are green or flashing red.

The evening commute from TDR at 5pm is equally improved from a 45-60 minute commute in rush hour highway gridlock to a 30 - 45 minute medium traffic drive. Not driving on freeways is great!

27 miles one way. 6:30am and then 6-8pm everyday. 20 miles each way is on the interstate. I'm tired just thinking about it.

I work 3 miles north of my job. I live off Cooper in S. Arl, work off N. Main St. in Mansfield (same street, different name). Previous job I worked was 6 miles north, off Cooper again. Cooper is a good street for good jobs.

Between option 1 and 2. My office is 7/10 of a mile from home and I work from home 2 days a week. Love it!

I used to live off Cooper and Green Oaks. I miss that neighborhood.

I have two surface street routes that are shorter than the highway, and the highway route. I work off-peak, though, so I rarely hit traffic unless people play bumper-cars. The surface street routes are pretty boring, though. Straight, suburban main arteries. I guess I could make it interesting now, though, since I have a car worth taking the long way.

About five miles each way here, mostly two lane backroads. Before that it was 55 miles each way through north Dallas traffic. Never again.

I go from McKinney to Plano every day. Most times I'm carpooling, so HOV lane makes it not so bad. 121 to 75, and the same roads coming back.

Although mine is only 23 miles each way, I have to go through downtown Dallas! I leave the house at 6AM and beats the morning rush if no idiot mess up I30 already and get in under 30-40 mins. The trip back is around 4PM. It can take anywhere 45 to more than 90 mins or more!

23 miles one way from my house to Southlake. Morning takes about 30 minutes. Afternoon takes about 35 minutes. Mixed highway and surface streets.

Both the wife and I are retired. But, it's ten miles of Farm to Market roads to the nearest Wal-Mart.

I drive about 55 miles each way each work day. A competitor has announced their intention to buy the company for which I work, so that commute may change substantially if I am deemed either extraneous or needed at their headquarters in the Greater Denver Area. (That daily drive to Denver is going to be rough...)
